I love country music - my February SOTMC entry is going to have a very strong country flavour :)

Awesome! I love country from the 70's 80's and 90's, after that I can't handle it. I am thinking of a country song, but, I just don't know how to compile it. Can't wait to hear it! I need to get my butt in gear on last month's SOTMC stuff too.

Yes. I'm definitely more Gram Parsons than Jason Aldean.

But it's not all about being cool, I have soft spot for Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton too:

  • I love Kenny's songs. Not so much his new face. lol. His concert was one of the best I've been to. He is quite entertaining.

  • Hi,
I'm happy to announce version 2.6 of Band Creator, which was released just couple of days ago.
There were some more updates in the meantime that I didn't mention here and all the major changes since 2.3 are listed below:

    • Sequence player - now you can organise your tracks into sequences (songs), tracks will change automatically so you can practice whole songs without switching manually
    • Number of tracks increased to 5
    • Metronome for recording tracks
    • New styles and one new genre
    • Improved styles, the drummer will now put fills ie. when changing tracks
    • Other minor usability improvements such as rewind button or track LED indicators
    • Bug fixes

What other features you'd like to see in the app?
    Hope you'll enjoy it!

  • Took the update fora spin last night and it worked great, glad to see a new style (alternative), more of those please :)

It's a great app for quickly putting ideas together. Even if I am going to eventually write my own bass and drums, using the styles in the app is a great way to test-drive riffs and chord sequences.

  • I would like to see the ability to record the source, so it could be added to the mix at the front end. Otherwise, a very nice app and a nice update as well.

My workaround is to link it all up via AUM, and record the source there as a loop. The fact that Band Creator can be loaded into AUM via IAA is super-useful here.

  • I had considered recording separately through AB or AUM, and that is a good workaround. Just thought having it built in would be more convenient and benefit those who might not have AB or AUM.

I haven't being paying attention in class I suspect... is the recording all done within AUM? So you can record a loop inside the app ... or you need a separate looping app to do that? So far, I've only used AUM a bit and just to manage volume levels from different apps when practising.

BTW, I find the 20 seconds of time you get with the lite version of Band Creator very restrictive, barely enough time to try out a couple of different styles before it pops up the reminder and then hangs (sometimes!). I was going to get a Digitech Trio+ but I think this app is worth trying out for £4, it may save me £200+ I guess!!

  • The app is stand alone in the sections it generates, but if you want to record the source audio, that was used to generate the sequence, you will need another app, and ideally run everything through AB or AUM. I haven't tried the Trio, so I don't know how they compare, but given the price.....

  • Incidentally, using Tin Pan, Guitarism, etc. as the source feeding Band Creator, through AB, negates the need to play a real instrument. Both approaches have advantages.

  • @Durwin99 You can record in AUM, it saves the files in Audioshare where you can quickly trim them to precise loops. Then you just play that loop in AUM alongside Band Creator.

  • Ok, thanks for all the pointers - I have Audioshare as well so I will put some time aside to get this all working! As I will usually have guitar in hand, I'm happy to play the chords directly into Band Creator but I can see the benefit of using Guitarism etc for that too.

  • Hi,
the new version of Band Creator (2.4) was released yesterdays. Here are the changes:

    • New genre
It's called ALT as Alternative and it brings three new styles from fusion/funk/jazz world.

    • More tracks
Now you can fill up to 5 different tracks. New tracks are also assignable for foot pedal.

    • Drum fills
This release brings over 20 different fills to make the backing track feel less monotonous. Fills are applied when changing track and on every fourth loop on current track.

    • New styles
Added couple of new styles for Jazz & Blues category

    • Bug fixes
Fixed bug that was causing crashing the app when changing track.

    Hope you'll like it.
    Best,
    Wojtek

  • Have you seen Digitech's new release? With SDrum, the rhythm is created from the pulsation in the strings of the guitar. very practical. Praying for an iOS app to do that too ;-)

  • Digitech is Harman and Harman s.. (snip)
You'll never find anything by that holding that hasn't been done before and/or better. >:)

  • I just found the Band Creator app after searching alternatives to the Digitech Trio Plus and I think it has great potential. Looks like the app was last updated over a year ago, does anyone know if this app is still being updated? I recently sent an email to the support email asking about compatibility with the iRig Blueboard foot pedal but haven’t heard back. The irig Blueboard connects with the Blueboard app running in the background but the assigned buttons don’t work as expected. You can only double tap a button to initiate an action and the record option isn’t working. Anyone use Blueboard with the app? Thanks!

  • I have successfully connected the positive grid BT4 Bluetooth midi foot controller to assign actions , with the exception of the 8 double tap actions many of which which would be most useful to me , others than that it works great . I would like to see an option where the double tap is not required . i.e. a single tap for all actions in the midi control . Although this may limit the number of assignments to 16 , I would assign the most important ones for my own use .
At least two Bluetooth controllers , iRig blueboard and positive grid bt4 do not support double tap .
WIth the wireless advantage of Bluetooth as well as leaving the lightening connector free and low price , I can see these controllers being very popular with users.

  • Just now taking a look. Are the desktop and IOS versions the same in terms of functionality? (given the same version number)
