...oh but if Apple is listening they can get ‘files’ working.

Tempted to go on a rant right now but... :/

    I'll open.

It is useless garbage that doesn't work. My BM3 files show up maybe ten percent of the time (i keep trying because, sadist) and my audioshare files about thirty percent. Using 'open in' is now about a 50/50 crapshoot for anything. I regularly have to reboot to get it working again.

If it weren't for BM3 being able to record other apps so well I would be pretty pissed at Apple and ios11. But for now I can just transcend it until it is fixed. Hmmm, looks like there is an ios update, fingers crossed.

  • I'm reading all of your great comments! Thank you for engaging with this topic. I hope that a lot of devs check this post out!

  • Great video (as usual) @jakoB_haQ
Very funny the mis takes

So I still expect somekind of audio editor with warping tools for all that wonderful non gridded music I want to mashup :smirk:

A transient designer would be more invaluable than anyone can even know.

Lots of us use them on other platforms.

I think you're both agreeing that transient designer would be good.

  • Double tap to centre knobs in Gadget. The pitch is driving me nuts!

Yeah, I meant it’s more valuable than anyone can know. Hate it when my dumb brain crosses signals. :grimace:

@AudioGus Then again, the rest of my last post should clue people in to what I meant, especially the part where I mentioned I’m buying the DCam EnvShaper today. ;)

Regardless, I edited the last post for clarity.

  • Thanks for the DCAM thing...I am about to press the purchase button...almost....

For 2018, I would be more than happy to be able to make my ipad sing by himself (ala vocaloid) or a really good pitch shifter

A transient designer AU would be pretty great actually. I’d hope @FredAntonCorvest could develop it given he’s crafted THE best iOS Chorus AU and THE best iOS Maximizer AU (both of which are UNIVERSAL and usable in AUM). A transient designer would be more valuable than anyone can even know. Your 808 kick’s too soft? Slap a transient designer on that. That clap has too sharp of an attack and is ruining your mix? Slap a transient designer on that. You EQ’ed the shit out of the backing arrangement and STILL can’t get the vocals to pop? Slap a transient designer on those vocals! Matter of fact, you can sharpen the lead vocal and muffle the background vocals so the latter doesn’t get in the way of the former.

In the meantime. looks like I’ll be investing some money into DCAM EnvShaper given I often (but not always) use Auria for mixing down stems from other apps.

Yeah, baby, yeah! Wooooh! Transient designer is top! :D

    Simple. Support the files .app.
Best workflow enhancement for every user.
    This can’t be rocket science.
No more where are my %%%%ing files and how do I get them from here to there.
I could just type snare in the searchbar and actually find everything named snare,
I could just type in pad and see a list of all the sounds that contain the word no matter what app or plugin they are in ... so I don’t have to remember all that ish.
La voila. Hello, it’s a computer and not a toyish telephone.

Actually... where are my %%%%ing files? ;)

  • Reboot. Yay. Files. But no BM3 anymore...

I'd like a decent sequencer with midi out capabilities that doesn't require endless menu diving.

    Wait for NS2.....

    ooo ! What's that ?

NanoStudio 2. It was intended to be released in time for Christmas but was pushed back “a few weeks” for more polishing. From the screenshots I’ve seen and the comments from Matt (the dev) on the new features, this is probably my most highly anticipated app.

Invaluable is one of those funny words in the English language that does not immediately sound like it should make sense...

    http://www.dictionary.com/browse/invaluable

So it means so valuable that it can't be quantified, so not valuable, rather than "not useful."

Now that we cleared THAT major point up, I have to say that I continue to be mystified by the files app. I don't know if it's because I'm on an air 1 that doesn't do split screen or something, but drag and drop does not seem to do much for me and the files app still feels like it's not really integrated the way finder, nautilus, windows explorer, or other os file managers are. I continue to move away from ios as a primary music tool and when I use it im typically using self contained apps like auria, garageband, or gadget, rarely using audiobus these days. I don't have aum or audiobus 3 but considering that my air 1 now struggles with pretty basic multitasking (if 4 apps are open it feels like using a computer that is 15 years old!) anything with multitasking is off the table.

One of my goals is to get music i/o to work with harrison mixbus so I can use it as a dsp box and run reverbs, delays, maybe amp Sims as part of my mix sessions since my macbook air has its limits because of the 4gb ram. However, I don't really want to replace that machine because it is so small and light, has the i7 (which is great but I guess it's dual core so mixbus does help it reach its limit pretty quickly), and still is really really fast. I bought it for use on my day job (not music, bought it for writing case notes, etc on the go in my therapy practice) but once I bought mixbus version 4 I remembered how good it sounds and v4 was a huge stability increase over previous versions. A new macbook, with usb c and many dongles needed, just doesn't grab my interest and every day apple makes me want to buy their products less.

In fact, the only reason I hold onto my iPhone is for the ability to have music apps in my hand, I don't do any social media or anything, and actually find the contact manager and phone itself to be not all that great.

Ok, enough manifesto...time to get back to work!

Having used them on PC, yes!

  • Here's a little list of app improvements that would make a big difference for me:

MIDI support in iMaschine 2. I don't understand why it's not already there. The whole app is geared towards making finger drumming type beats but doesn't allow using actual drum pads. Drumming on glass is not very pleasant.

    Launchpad: reinstate iOS9 compatibility please.

djay: MIDI learn. There's a workaround to add MIDI through the back door but it's a pain and not very accessible for non-coders. Also, Ableton Link.

Group The Loop: Individual loop export

    Yellofier: Albeton Link

Triggler: higher res and Audioshare import
