Sunrizer AU doesn’t fit cleanly into any AU window on my system. Is this to be expected or do I need to troubleshoot some?

I’ve tried AUM, Audiobus RC, BM3, GB and Cubasis. In every case part of the GUI is chopped off.

    LOL just scroll down.

The original UI was full screen. AUs are windowed. Unless the Dev makes a brand new AU UI, or AU becomes accessible completely full screen, this is what we’re stuck with, which isn’t a big deal. Just pick the sound you want and close the window and use the DAW controls. At the risk of stepping out of bounds, it seems like AU people just can’t ever be satisfied.

    1) I was not asking about AU windowing per se, but that within said AU window the Sunrizer GUI is truncated awkwardly
    2) There is in fact full screen AU, sunrizer attempts to use it.
    3) What exactly the fuck is your problem?
    4) I take back number 3.

Standalones are typically fullscreen, so methinks it's more a standalone thing in this case.

I wasn’t picking a fight with you specifically. It’s just that some of us like the old workflow using Audiobus with IPads but so much of what gets talked about here is universal AU this and that and frankly I think it’s bad because the end result is usually something inferior to what we could otherwise get if we allowed devs to just dedicate their time and resources to making innovative beautiful standalone apps.

I like Zeeon f.e. more on iPhone. Too much space for the keyboard (or less if you want the other way).
Multi-touch apps should all have an option to hide the keyboard and make it full screen if needed.
Also something like the Animoog keys and Thor strumming is great to have.
So size isn‘t a problem always but not really multi-touch GUI on a multi-touch device.
Sunrizer is great on iOS and mac so far.
It‘s one of my oldest iOS synths but still maybe the best masterpiece in terms of sound, modulation, morphing and GUI.
(....still waiting for Zeeon for mac..... :) )

+200 on Animoog Keys and Thor strumming ...hopefully next gen AU’s start focusing on stuff like this.

  • I’m still waiting for an AU to window into my soul.

btw. some of you reported problems with automation. Could you email me and describe what is happening? Testing again, it works :] my fav type of bugs

As about fullscreen UI in AU mode. I know its not perfect. Over the years, Sunrizer became a classic, so I really don't want to chop its layout. I hope one dimensional scroll is not that bad compromise.

Just check LayR AU, it's awesome. They created a little menu on the left with which you can select just the part of the component you want to display and it zooms in for you. I think it's brilliant. Maybe could be some inspiration for sunrizer.

  • I think the UI is great and done the correct way for AU, Full screen is priority and scroll within it. If there can be a secondary half screen option great, but I prefer if it's designed with full screen first in mind. But then I'm using a 12.9 which makes you want to use the full screen AU option always.
My only issue is scrolling the preset window sometimes scrolls the whole window in certain configurations.

@giku_beepstreet Do you have apeMatrix to test in? The automation is not working at all in this when you apply LFOs to the parameters.

  • @giku_beepstreet Do you have apeMatrix to test in? The automation is not working at all in this when you apply LFOs to the parameters.

Same with me. Apematrix latest beta, release of SR, and I can see all the parameters available and assign them, but nothing happens. If you sign me up for the SR beta I don't mind switching if it's any help.

ok thanks.. downloading the app. It works in Cubasis and BM3

Can confirm this issue on my IPad Pro2 12.9 too - my current workaround is to close and open the gui again. Still loving Sunrizer!

Not bad a compromise at all, just wanted confirm that it was intentional. It seemed that it is scaling nicely anyway whenever the AUM window resizes, just still off by a few pixels at the edges. Very livable.

Ahh, I get it. So your comments are reflecting your selfish concerns, rather than considering the opinions and feelings of other users who are different from you? (cough) iPhone users (cough)

  • What does Sunrizer has that eg Zeeon hasn't? Don't be hard on me. I am new to iOS synths… just curious. And i have already to much synths now… they all overlap in my opinion except the Moog ones.

"if we allowed devs"? Interesting choice of words. I happen to frequent quite few places where iOS music devs gather, and the dominant sentiment seems to be that we're really happy we can finally move away from standalone and that IAA-kludge.

AU is just a natural progress towards seamless integration of musical tools and a way around the ridiculous redundancy of features (having to duplicate every feature and every setting in every app). Allowing us to capture functionality only once in a host instead so all plugins can benefit from them.

Different synths - different sound, just like hardware - Zeeon sounds great as does Sunrizer - but they sound different. Can’t be arsed to go into technical / feature differences but most important is the sound. Listen to some demo’s - I’m pretty sure there’s good reason why this synth has been around so long and is still so loved and used despite the myriad of newer synths.

Thats it. AU is the only standard here. My only problem is, there is no particular iOS DAW I do like :)

The solution is easy, simply make one. Shouldn’t take too long.. ;)
