@Chris_Randall yes i’m getting this too when loading a session in AUM with the new version released. The tests are with presets (no new audio files used) - sadly means all settings getting lost unless a preset is saved and reloaded.
Word on the twittersphere is that a fix is incoming
I'm glad they released it even if it has a few bugs. I trust they will work it out, they are a solid name and trusted in the iOS community.
Or they'll make it a subscription for those who want the fix 😂😂 ok just kidding. too early.
that is very obvious innit. Thank you
OT, but how do record AU audio, specifically Axon, in Cubasis? Axon doesn't work with MIDI it seems.
You can also drag the corner of the windows to resize.
My work-around for this is to create an empty midi-event on the Axon track and then do a freeze.
That will render the Axon audio. You can then copy that to another audio-track.
Interesting, thank you.
I should add that Axon does not maintain a steady tempo in Cubasis. I love AD, and their effects and Phosphor are rock-solid, but some of the problems with Quanta and Axon make them nigh-unusable. I have faith Quanta will be fixed, but Axon was a mess from day one and still is.
update is out which fixes the session loading bug
NICE!
Anyone confirm that the latest update sorts out the issues?
it does fix the issue with Auv3 crashing.
The midi settings page is still sort of broken in standalone. No way to select channel or map midi
I know, I know... "why not just use it in a host such as AUM?" And I am! but in Auv3, the microtonal option is missing, I'm so excited for this microtonal granular synth. Dying to get this working one way or another.
In fact several microtonal Auv3's dropped in the last month or so, but the only one that actually works is Sunrizer. haha, gotta love beepstreet.
Thanks, I am loving the sounds I am making with Quanta, good to know I am now safe to upgrade.
I’ve got an iPad Air 1. Should I take the plunge with this (vs Tardigrain)?
thanks, doesn't seem to work on all apps, still not that keen on the AU's layout, I prefer standalone when available as I use mostly one app at a time in a hybrid hardware/ipad set up. I do enjoy your apps btw.
Anyone else kind of tinker around but not get much out of this synth?
I still get plenty out of it funwise, and I'm sure I'll use it for more soundscapey stuff in the future. That said, for making poppy music, I've really only made two types of patches...classic synth samples doubled by the side oscillator for pads, and classic synth samples used at 7-10-ish grains and 200-ish length (with random turned on a bit for both) for some in-and-out staccato rhythm stuff.
So I can see where you're coming from. It has its sweet spots, and then it can make fun noises if you're into that sort of thing (I am).
I’m loving Quanta at the moment. I must admit, I haven’t quite come up with many quality patches of my own yet, but I blame my lack of knowledge and skill for that. A lot of the built in patches are fantastic and I haven’t heard anything like them anywhere else.
I can't stop creating presets since I bought it. The automation possibilities are incredible once you are sucked into the matrix. You can do some unique things shaping those envelopes and lfo's. I mainly use one shot samples which I tuned to C using this freeware program called "autotune" (windows) and create pads, atmospheres, soundscapes and drones with them.
I’m finding the presets really good to use, and as starting points for my own.
Quanta sits nicely in my live jamming setup, and has a quality sound.
I have made a few soundscapey type noises with it, but I have other apps for that sort of thing, and Quanta works well for melodic stuff.
I need to experiment more, but as it’s landed at the same time as Spacecraft and AudioLayer, it’ll be a while before I really get going with my own patches.
Quanta has got me into using samples in a way that I’ve not been inspired to do before, I am loving it and making sounds for it. I’ve created quite a number so far, a varied bunch including atmospheres, basses, leads and pads. I may look at sharing some at some stage.
Hey man, soundscapes drones atmospheres... I am all in
do you have a SoundCloud or YouTube video where we can give your creations a listen? Unfortunately I wasnt able to make something cool out of it as I hoped. I think my main issue is the sample I put it there
I'll have to get into it more. Maybe I need better samples.
Me too. With Spacecraft, AudioLayer and Quanta arriving I’ve become aware I’ve got a lack of decent sample fodder on the iPad. Plenty on the desktop though so bit of housekeeping is in order.
I am puzzled what to throw into the granular machines. putting in some lush pads, sounds most of the time good, but feels like cheating
however, its fun to experiment with different kind of samples. High hat, percussion, kick drum, plucked, played you name it sounds
Okay, so got some motivation to play with the granular. This is awesome. Anyone have a trick for dealing with abrupt releases on the envelope? No clicks issue, just want hissed out tales instead of chopped reverb.
Drag out the release stage of any active envelopes and set it to more of a linear shape to get longer release. The default shape on release gives more of a reverb effect (although it is not true reverb, just a different release).
Yeah I was trying that but still getting ugly tails. One thing I noticed is that "grain length" seems to really affect this.
In the meantime I really enjoyed latching the keys and playing with modulations.
I eliminated a lot of the modulations and tried to draw smoother relations between decay and sustain. Then, obviously, used this envelope to modulate grain level and output level. I also fed the oscilator into the grains section in order to get some punch out of the attack phase. And I chose a grain shape that matched the shape of the envelope, turning the knob all the way to the right.
