One of the best ways to understand the capabilities of Stria is to listen to the four pieces composed by John Chowning under the same name (the Godfather of FM as we know it). They're off the grid microtonal pieces, so may sound a little alien on first listens, but it's interesting to hear the possibilities for FM that Chowning saw beyond the DX7!
I tend to listen to the album in this order as Sabelithe attunes me to material that follows as it eases you in, in places it's reminiscent of a piece for a traditional orchestra. Stria itself is very otherworldly, but once your head is in the right space, the journey is more pleasurable.

I love Stria - in fact, it might be my favorite of the iPulsaret, iDensity and Stria triumvirate.
I hope the both Stria and Sparkle make their AUv3 debut soon - would make both of these so much more useful. With Alessandro's recent push for AUv3 I don't expect we'll have to wait all that Long.
Dang I forgot about Stria because it hasn’t gotten the AU treatment yeah. I’m also super excited for Sparkle to go AU if it’s on the roadmap. I think that app is special.
Apesoft and Amazing Noises apps are incredible fun if you like experimental stuff/modular synthesis/ mad scientist sound labs
Lately I’ve really been getting into sampling/resampling the output through multiple passes, throwing it through different automated effects on each pass, until I stumble on those delightful happy accidents that’d be difficult to intentionally reproduce.
Stria, Sparkle, iPulsaret, iDensity, ApeDelay/Filter (and/or some of the Sugar Bytes MFX) are among my goto apps for for creating entirely unique / otherworldly sounds — I can easily get lost for hours in this stuff.
Just realized I can take the output from these apps and feed it into soundscaper/synthscaper. Dunno why this hasn't occurred to me before really.
Also a good source for granular synths (all of them. Just all of them). This is going to my year of crappy ambient music I think.
Stria AUv3 iOS is in RC (release candidate) state...:)

Can't wait for this one - I say it over and over, but this is my favorite of the apeSoft granular synths. It makes such wonderfully weird noises.

Hmm interesting. I have no trouble getting the track 1 type sounds out, but never got sounds like those on track 3. May need to experiment a bit there.
I’ll dig around and see if I have any patch notes to share.

I was fascinated by Stria's beautiful GUI and searched youtube, but all I saw was hazy drone.
I think it's just a vector that doesn't fit my taste and is, of course, worthwhile to others. Maybe everyone reviewing this synth loves a hazy drone. But can this fascinating synth with a beautiful GUI be able to play well-defined phrases?
It can be played chromatically via Midi if that’s what you mean. Probably not the first application people think of, given that it’s a homage to John Chowning.
Then again, why not? I’d still recommend to check out the original compositions @jonmoore posted and of course @waynerowand’s take.

Thank you. yes, That's what I mean. The GUI of this synth is very beautiful, but I doubted it would support chromatic and fast attack sounds.
I checked the sound of John Chowning that you told me, The 4th work is a little bit chromatic. Attack is also fast. But It's not clear if it can do that with Stria.
I've been a bit bitter in recently for atonal sounds. However, I would like to create an ordinary techno-like phrase with this synth and perform unusual modulation. A normal synth can only do normal modulation, but it looks interesting if this synth becomes AUv3.
I understand why there are so many abstract demos because you told me the story of this synth. about @ waynerowand ’s take, I like the third track. It is beautiful
