How do you enable Seaquence to work with a synth other than its internal one?
As an very experienced iOS music user, I’m not making any rookie mistakes and never find it necessary to read a manual to figure out how to send midi from one app from another, but Seaquence has defeated me.
I’ve configured everything as it should be, no sound in any external synth. So I resorted to consulting the manual, yep everything is already set up correctly, no need to change anything.
So I downloaded MIDISpy and connected it to that, that’s not output coming from it whatsoever.
I replayed the intro screens and it says purchase Seaquence complete to unlock midi i/o, but how unearth do you do this. I’ve searched everywhere within the app, nowhere can I find anywhere to upgrade the app!
How do you upgrade the app or enable midi out?

I think the Midi is broken.
I can’t get it to work either.
And what is really weird is when I open AUM to try to load something to receive Midi, the internal sounds in Seaquence change pretty dramatically. Also happens when trying to connect to different Midi destinations.

Works here but I’ve also had it not work before...
Met me know what happens

Just wondering...
What iOS version are you on?
Never mind, I think I figured it out.
I still can’t get it working, what does you aum channel strip look like?
All channels are on.
I even had three of the little bugger all on different channels in Seaquence routing into AUM, and could turn each bugger/voice off and on with each routed channel in the AUM instrument (beathawk in this case)
Try opening AUM first, before you open Seaquence.
It didn’t work the other way opening Seaquence first.
Not exactly sure if this is what got it working.
Try this. If still nothing, I may have a few more steps to try.
But, it wasn’t working, and now it is, for me.
So it should work for you as well.
I managed to get it working a few times - but on other times following the exact same steps as I did when it worked, and it doesn't. And I was only able to get it working using Aum, not just using Seaquence and a synth together, like every other app.
Something I noticed is that if its launched first and using its internal synth, then if aum is launched next, there's a horrible distorion noise despite Seaquence not being routed to anything else, nor having any midi in which might cause some sort of feedback.
Once I did get it working if I loaded another existing sequence then it stopped working (even after setting the individual midi out channels for each sequence part), then if I go back to the original that now doesn't work.
I've got fed up and frustrated with the damn thing, I can't be bothered wasting any more time with something that has issues that the developer doesn't seem bothered to to addressed so it doesn't seem like it has a future on iOS.
I’ve got a folder full of innovative apps that are difficult to work with and not usually worth the effort in my general workflow.
I’ll dip my toe in there for inspiration or if there’s and update, but it can be frustrating. 🤷♂️
Compared to the beginnings of iOS music there’s are so many options for song creation. I’d rather make something than complain too much about features if it’s passably functional.
If the ecosystem for apps was better than the 99¢ (subscription) game model with a passel full of OS versions and hardware to support, I’d imagine software would be in an even better state - cause people would get paid.
Oh shit, I started to rant... 😊✌️
Just tried it with some hardware synths, strangly it worked perfectly, no problems at all.
Wonder why its so flaky with ios soft synths but not hardware.
Hi everyone, sorry for unbury this old post, but.. When using Seeaquence to control other synths, does it send velocity or volume when you move the little creatures away? or it only sends out the notes in the grid?
