IDensity users question

Is there a way to expand the length of the recording stream?
I’ve messed with the tempo and searched the manual to no avail.
Basically I just want to record longer samples.
Also Spacecraft fails to load as an audio unit (both inst and effect). Any advice?
-thx!

  • Spacecraft loads fine here. Air 2, 13.3

Very interested in the answer as well.

That’s not what my wife said....

Files load properly on my end.

Hahahaha......while I have you, Im getting weird behavior with saving/loading my presets. All the audio goes missing, streams are empty but actual settings are saved. Also if I open an included idensity preset, close it and then open my own saved preset, its opening with all the audio from that previously opened included preset. Are you having issues? (I emailed Mr. Apesoft)

No, sorry, no issues here. Presets load and save as intended.

  • No problems here, but remember to switch the stream to “on” or it won’t work.

  • Hi @hibjshop

I can load SC as an AU effect in iDensity but I get that error message if identity is not playing. When I press play on iDensity the error message disappears. Please let me know if this doesn't work for you.

  • DelatV da man!🙌🏻 Yes its seems to be working fine now, with occasional errors, takes a little fiddling. Probably on the idensity side, im have other issues.

  • Blimey. Spacecraft was my first love, @deltaVaudio it is beautiful. Now iDensity is blowing my mind. Now I see from this thread that I can load Spacecraft into iDensity. The possibilities scare me.
If anyone can spare the time and find a way to help me with a simple explanation of how the matrix works I would be very grateful. I seem to be getting results but it’s more luck than understanding.
Also, AUM users, is it possible to have 6 iDensity windows open on one screen which are routed to 6 channels in Cubasis? I believe this feature was lost from Audiobus when it became AU.
Cheers to the knowledge fountain that is this forum.

It’s as if the ends of time are turning in on each other, granulating the granulation. I’ve done something similar by putting borderlands in live mode and feedbacking it. But this SC/IDensity combo opens even more possibilities.

    ‘What’s happening Data?’
‘Well Captain, it seems that someone in the 21st century created a massive temporal vortex. They flew a Spacecraft into an iDensity...’

  • how does this work as a auv3 host?
can you load synths or is it for effects?
i have it and i’m trying but not having any luck setting it up

  • Hi, picked up idensity after a while. What a killer app, it’s so fun and inspiring.
I have a question. When using low density to create a sort of arpegio sound, I can’t get it quite sync with the beat. The bpm setting does not affect this, and it makes sense that it doesn’t. Is there a trick to get these lower densities to sync with tempo?

  • Since you're hearing each individual grain, grain size is the parameter I'd look into. They might call it grain length? It's how big/how long each 'bip' is anyway. I'd bring out a calculator for this one - figure out how many milliseconds there are per beat/bar at your bpm, then type that exact number into the grain length parameter.

If it fits what you're doing, you might also work in the other direction - i.e. start with iDensity, then tap tempo, then maybe fine tune a little, depending on how much drift you get. An ultra-slow drift might be interesting over the course of a track, but it might sound shit, so drive as you go. Also worth highlighting that there are LFOs on all parameters, that you can run in sync with the project, and with a light touch you can make things bounce and pulse just a little bit, which can help to reinforce the rhythmic elements.

Or if you're in a rush, just sample it.
