Zenbeats - how to change pattern length?
How do alter pattern length in Zenbeats. I see that you can set a default loop length, and that you can reduce the loop length...but how do you increase a loop that originated as a 1 bar pattern into say, a 2 bar pattern. I think you used to be able to zoom out and extend the loop region, but I can longer do this.

This came up on Discord and @MatthewAtZenbeats is looking into it. For the time being a work around that he suggested is this:
Found a workaround. If you add notes anywhere on the 2nd half of the view port (in the MIDI editor) you can then zoom out past the loop end point, then extend the pattern. Try that out and let me know if that works for you
That does work, thanks onerez. Hope a better solution (like just a long-press menu option) gets here quick. I like the app a lot.
@bcrichards @MatthewAtZenbeats i can still extend regions on the timeline. Works fine here. Drag the arrows on region extends perfect
@bcrichards Turn off looping for the clip and set play start in the clip editor to the beginning of the clip. Or wherever you want it to start. If I’m understanding the question 🤪
@stormbeats i can only extend the loop region if I am able to zoom out, which I am unable to do (unless I add in notes as onerez shows). Turning off the loop grid is ok for recording probably. I just think there should be a simple solution to set the loop length, without having to zoom out in the first place. It would make sense to me for it to be in the loop/pattern options, as you can set the meter there already.
They are working on this as far as I know. It will get fixed. 😀
You’re talking clip mode not linear? Create an 8 bar pattern in linear mode. Copy/paste to the 1 bar clip. The 1 bar clip will now be 8 bars. Or create a new 8 bar pattern in clip mode and copy/paste the contents of the 1 bar clip into it. I’m trying... 🤣
Thanks for the workarounds everyone. I am sure a more direct solution is on the way.
I just asked that same question in the other thread. @anickt was helpful in getting the initial length longer (up to 8 bars, at least), but to change it within the clip I was basically creating a temporary note and then extending its length as far as I wanted to the right so I could set the loop region above, then deleting it. Not ideal but it did work...
@bcrichards @oddSTAR
Glad to help in any way I can. They are working on a feature upgrade. No ETA. It is my understanding they are working on the drum machine and SampleVerse. I’m sure there is more to it than that but those are the only things that have been specifically mentioned to me. I have been making a lot of workflow and feature suggestions. They have responded in a timely fashion and with interest.
Has this been fixed yet? I cant make the zoom workaround do anything. I just want to increase my drum loop from 1 measure to 2 in clip mode.
I'm not sure I understand. You can just touch the drop-down at the very top-left of the pattern editor and select a new length. The existing bars are automatically copied to fill up the pattern.
You only need to do this if you want to vary the pattern across the pattern length. Otherwise it's not necessary as shorter patterns will loop to match longer patterns.
Oh ... are you talking about audio loops, not midi patterns?
If so, then I still don't get it. The loop will just repeat enough times to match any longer patterns.
No im talking about midi.
I didnt know that you click on that pattern icon, which brings up a dialog box asking how long you want the pattern to be.
Ive been using the factory patterns with 2 bar lengths and editing them.
Yep, works like a charm. It's a little bit annoying if you don't want the existing bars copied, but that's manageable.
