Really the best ... utterly unique. And a peculiarly individual melodic approach - unmistakable ... snaking and swirling about. Not bad for an experimental trumpeter. He was courageous and amazingly innovative. His 520 film scores changed what we think of as music ... stretched our ears - gently and melodically. We'll be hearing shades of Morricone forever. A great musician's life.
@AudioGus posted it, but The Mission soundtrack was my intro to Ennio, utterly beautiful, before I discovered my love of Spaghetti Westerns. Up there with Johannsson as one of my most admired composers.
I used to rent it from the library when I was a kid so it was nice to find a vinyl version on Youtube.
