Ooooh the possibilities, great work
Take care, Mark!
This going to be fun. You're moving into Sampler territory with these enhancements.
Now if you could add a few tweaks for isolating transients in the sample and assigning MIDI
triggers to slices and... down the sampler rabbit hole my imagination goes.
What a great app. I'm glad you survived your brush with the "Covid Random Button".
The early ICU protocols put people into Comas to help with the virus. I think they have
learned a lot of optional therapies in the interim that can avoid your current after effects.
Best wishes on a swift and effective physical therapy regime. I broke my neck in 2015 and
those PT's are unsung heroes of the long term healing process.
Since we are on the subject of features...
I don't normally discuss publicly upcoming features but I'm really excited about this one. It's a midi transpose feature where playing midi notes will transpose the notes on screen. This is done diatonically which means the notes are always in the scale chosen. The exciting thing is that if you hold down a chord on the keyboard, SC will cycle through every combination of midi+screen notes. I came up with an algorithm to do this in the most mathematically homogeneous way possible, and had quite some fun doing it.
This update will be hot on the heels of the infinity mode update
You're on fire my brother. You're more productive in rehab than I am at full strength. All power to you.
That almost made me come. So looking forward to this update!
@deltaVaudio I'm very excited about the MIDI transposition because SpaceCraft is already the smoothest-sounding granular synth, suited very well for tonal experiments using rather percussive material.
I find @McD's suggestion about MIDI triggered markers very interesting (maybe above or below a user-definable keyboard split point), although I'd be fine with manually pre-defining the positions because there's no such thing as a geostationary transient in granular earth terms, it's rather done by ears in available air 😉
Every time someone releases an app that records or playback audio, someone asks for slicing and MIDI triggering... it never fails.
Hopefully, this goes forward with Mark just thinking of interesting enhancements and adding them to the best designed "little app that could". It's just a bliss box. If you can't get something useful out if it you should just buy an Android Tablet and fewer fewer choices.
There are probably 10 popular chord progressions at any given time. It would be cool to see someone implement them in their MIDI code as a switchable parameter. They all apply to
all the scales when just treated as a sequence of chord roots:
1 6 4 5
1 3 6 4
1 2 6 5
1 2 6 4
...
Then you get a lot of 4-8-16 bar loops out of a really simple idea and the notes selected
seem to sound more like pop tunes than just the randomness of someone plunking keys
or the notes of a chord... unless the chord is a C6 = 1 3 5 6 or F9 in 2nd inversion. Anyway,
I keep intending to try out this idea in Mozaic and throw the MIDI output input at Spacecraft
or any synth. Of course, the patterns on the chords are important but typical arp patterns are easy to generate: 1 3 5 8 3 5 6 5, etc. So, you mix popular arp patterns per chord and sequence over popular progressions.
I love slipping developers ideas I'd love to see given back to me in working code. So, far I can't see anyone that's really taken them except one. And the enhancements gave me so much joy. Better automatic sequences for making music that sounds logical and popular.
This is an interesting idea. Very creative.
Didn’t think this craft could be improved but happy to be wrong.
Cheers very much @deltaVaudio!
Keep it up @deltaVaudio, you have great courage and resilience.
AUM + Fundamental + Spacecraft / infinite mode = sonic bliss...😊
@deltaVaudio fantastic !
I can confirm that infinite sampling mode is ‘most excellent’ I tested in supermarket today!

I think I know what you're getting at. In fact, the midi transpose feature that I will release after this update can do a similar thing. It is because the transposition is diatonic. So if you put, say, root, 3rd, 5th and 7th into SC sequencer then hit a C on the keyboard you will get Ionian arpeggio. Then if you hit D, you get dorian, and E phygrian, F lydian etc. This gives the pop tune effect you were getting at and is incredibly musical.
Also, if you were to play both C and D on the keyboard at the same time, you would hear ionian and dorian mixed together. This can lead to some interesting arpeggios when you have a chord both in the sequencer and in midi input.
Furthermore, if you use a different scale, such as melodic minor, you will get the modes of the melodic minor scale.
The only limitation of this is that you can't change key easily on the fly.
Does this make any sense?
@deltaVaudio most excellent to hear from you. Hope you get better.
yes....
Yeah. I can't wait to drive that with Touchscaper.
@deltaVaudio haven't heard from you in a while - hope you're still on the mend and looking after yourself. Still absolutely loving the infinite mode - it's a great addition to an already brilliant app!
loving the infinite mode!!!
i’ve noticed sc isn’t state saving in aum on ios14 , seems to be an ios 14 trend..so to anyone wanting to come back to a session that you like make sure you have it all written down or screen capped for later reference!
Anyone heard from Mark recently? The current beta of Spacecraft is getting close to running out and just a bit worried in case he's had more problems. @deltaVaudio - if you're reading this just let us know you're OK...
Yes I'm ok thanks for asking
at home now but still learning to walk again.
Thanks for reminding me about the beta running out, I'll upload a replacement version although there won't be any major changes as my mac book was broken for ages. However now I have it fixed and have gotten an m1 mac so that I can compile the arm version of the vst.
Is this state saving thing still an issue? I heard it was an iOS 14 thing.
‘Learning to walk again’ is a really good reason for a delayed update.
All the best to you!
You haven't missed much in regards to iOS 14 fixes, Apple are apparently still struggling with providing a proper version with proper documentation for developers. Audio/MIDI related bugs seem to be filed as low priority.
Thanks Mark - great to hear from you. Good luck and take care...👍
Take care Mark!
All my Best wishes for a speed recovery
Will be great to see an update in the App Store, but of course your health comes first, so take care of yourself.
Thanks for this. Are you aware of any bugs with sc on iOS14?
Speedy recovery, Mark. You were missed!
