@Gavinski keep it going
Any clue on when the intro-sale ends?
When I look at the price evolution of their B3 emulation, I also wonder if jumping on this intro price wouldn't be a good idea... even if, like you, I'm still using an Air 2 and probably won't be able to enjoy all the joy this new MixBox has to "offer".
I'm on an iPad Air 2 as well...
Our local store was out of gift cards and I simply refuse to put my credit card in the AppStore again and fall into uncontrolled app-o-holism. I try as good as I can to limit my monthly app-spendings so I can keep it somewhat under control...
That's something I've managed to do during this black friday period 😎... and, asking myself to figure out if I would (really) use every apps I immediately want when then appear on the AppStore and are discussed on this (very dangerous and not "wallet-friendly") forum, now often tend to obtain the answer "definitely... not" 🙈😂.
The extremely lucky winners!

Congrats! 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉
damn. off to buy now then haha.
It's undeniable that in general here people get in a frenzy about new things. I was talking to a developer whose name I won't mention about how frustrating that is. You work your ass off on something for it to be flavour of the year for a day or two here til the next distraction comes along and it is - or at least seems - forgotten. It's pretty brutal.
Dude, literally one of the winners was right above your comment, better luck next time 😭
Looks like all the buzz has caused them to increase the price. App store now says 50% off. Just grabbed it.
Great prize congrats winners, I relented last night and finding it great, so many great presets, I’m not through them yet!
This is just Great!

I'll consider myself the ultimate looser then as I never win anything LOL...
It's clear that iOS devs are "warriors" and kind of heroes for me !
I have no clue if their hard work is in any way rewarded at a "reasonable" level but, especially nowadays, we have SO MANY apps available in any categories and we are SO used to pay low prices... keeping on collecting more and more apps that will sink in folders lost on the XXth screen of my ipad seems to really become ridiculous... but, I know I'm just a weak human 🤪
What worries me more is that we have all these awesome AUv3 instrument and effects etc but not a single damned host that seamlessly supports all the features like you know, recording automation and editing of both audio and midi etc. etc.
I know, baby steps...
...but it's almost 2021 and I got my first music app (BeBot) over 10 years ago and still nada...
Yep. The DAW is definitely the missing piece of the puzzle now. Looking forward to Atom2 to extend AUMs functionality in this regard.
Atom 2 will be a welcome addition for sure but the setup routing nightmare to simply record a knob tweak from a plug-ins UI to an Atom 2 instance is well, not something I want to experience. Drambo will get AUv3 support soon and that'll be loads of fun
We'll have to see what the Cubasis 3.2 update brings to the table...
...hoping to see at least support for multi-in/out AUv3's and more flexible Audio & Midi routing. Scale support for keyboard and midi-editor would be quite handy as well...
Cheers!
Congrats to the winners (damn, it wasn’t me!). Might just have to get this as an early Christmas present.
Wow! I ACTUALLY won something!!! What a glorious way to start the week!
Thank you!🙏🏾❤️
I've spoken to a few - no names - including one who is highly respected and has produced a fair few apps over the years which are still pretty popular purchases, and he told me that despite trying to make a living from making apps full time he had been unable to. That makes me sad and tells me that a) apple have definitely been taking too much money b) there are maybe just too many apps coming out and c) app prices need to go up or d) iOS music needs to become more promoted so there are more app buyers.
Re Apple taking too much. Developers get a higher percentage (far higher) of the sales price now than when apps were sold in bricks and mortar stores. There are two main problems with with App Store model that work hand-in-hand: prices are too low (partly due to the initial race to the bottom) and the lack of a paid upgrade model. I was involved in music software development for decades and one could ... based on ones existing user base, plot out timelines for adding feature-rich updates and have a sense of the revenue that they would generate and you could plan accordingly. If you built a user base, you could offer them value to stick with you and they could repay your investment by upgrading (often every other release).
The iOS model breaks that. Not only do customers expect endless development without paying for it, but the prices are so low that you don’t earn enough in the initial offering to pay for the ongoing support.
Initially, when the market was small, you could sell a zillion of a cheap app because people were dying for apps. But now there are so many apps that discoverability is a problem.
Apple’s cut is small compared to these other issues.
Good points but since getting into desktop plugins I have realised that iOS prices are not as low as I thought. I am nearly always able to recoup what I paid for on a desktop plugin through resale. I have come to the opinion that if Apple enable trading/reselling of apps then iOS devs could raise prices to more sustainable levels.
Both interesting perspectives, yes. In particular Gus's point, had never thought of that, might well be true.
@Samu :I thought NS2 did ? And I think Zenbeats has that on the roadmap
NS2 doesn't have audio-tracks yet as far as I know?(at least not without using 3rd party apps) and AUv3 Plug-In automation can't be done from the plug-in UI and automation parameters have to be assigned to one of the knobs first taking a way the immediacy of tweaking a Plug-In, also automation of AUv3 effects is a no-go unless something has changed in the past few weeks?!
ZenBeats is ZenBeats and no matter how much I try to love it it's still not 'smooth' and 'fluid' and tries to be 'everything' at once.
Maybe in 2022 it'll get there, it needs a lot of TLC when it comes to midi & audio-editing to be on par with something like LK, NS2 or even Cubasis.
I'm at the point where I'm about to delete most apps and keep just a few to help me focus, the missing features here and there drive me nuts to be honest and after almost 10 years I'm at the point where I'll say f'k it I'll just use the iPad as a sound-module for my Mac for Logic and Renoise...
I don't have super high expectations for the 3.2 update to Cubasis but I do hope it's at least a step up in the right direction
Cheers!
So glad I won, Thanks again Gav... it is a very nice addition to my daw
Hey @Gavinski ! Great vid on mixbox. Quick question: at 21:31 you explain which slot you’re sending the Rozeta LFO to, but how do you know which parameter is which? I understand the slot bit; that will connect to the “module” in the corresponding slot in the chain, but how do I know which parameter is which? Are they numbered? Or does it just operate on a left to right basis? And I guess this is then applicable to all other apps, same principle? Cheers!
@Gavinski I’m trying to do the same thing but using a filter module in ToneStack Pro and I can’t see a list of the individual parameters (?)
That, unfortunately, I think you have to experiment on a unit by unit basis. As there are so many different fx in Mixbox, they couldn't possibly have a parameter for each different knob on all the units, such a list would be a nightmare to find things in anyway. So yeah, maybe it goes left to right, maybe top to bottom, probably a mix of both, I'm not sure, experiment and see if you find a logical order there 😉
Will do, thanks @Gavinski. Not even sure it's possible with Tonestack Pro...can't find any parameter list...but when I add another effect (Bleass Phaser) under TSP, I can see available parameters immediately. Guess I might contact Yonac. Anyone know if the Yonac dev hangs out here?
