Any word on iOS IK Multimedia Modo Drums and Bass?

What with all the recent physical modelling stuff as m1, swam, vtines, now pianoteq, I wondered if anyone or ik here had any word about modo drums/bass on iOS? Or could start the clamor :)

Or Aas Chromophone?

Anyone send a mail to IkMultimedia, to ask them ?

  • Paging @ikmultimedia

Is this one in the cards?

  • Modo Bass should be possible but Modo Drums actually involves a sizable sample library. It's more of a hybrid technique whereas Modo Bass has a very small footprint and can be considered true physical modelling. And very good it is too.

Modo Drum is very clever in the way it mixes samples and physical modelling to provide a drum library with an acoustic response that should ordinarily require a far larger sample library but the base sample is still on the large side.

  • Yeah, I have them and they are both really good.

But you’re right about using samples and Modo Drum would be more of a space hog for an iPad.

I also use EZ Drummer and the NI Komplete kits and the modeled drums compare really well to a sampled kit.

    Maybe one day on iOS…

Isn't it only the cymbals that are sampled?

  • I’ll ask: Good day @ikmultimedia any chance that Modo Drums and Bass get ported to iOS?

  • Sampletron 2 has a fairly large size as well and they found a way to optimize a version for iPadOS . MODO Drums would probably outsell it by a wide margin

  • Hi, we do not have specific news on either of the MODO series coming to iOS at this time but stay tuned as I will post any news I can when I have it. We did port MODO DRUM for M1 Macs since M1 does not support AVX, recently, though.

I might buy that. I tried the demo version of Modo Drums on my M1 iMac and it did not perform well. There was so much delay between MIDI input and actual sound that I deleted it. I assume it was not optimized for M1. However, everything IK Multimedia on iOS has performed well for me.

Are you saying that Modo Drum is now optimized for M1 processors on macOS? If so, is this very recent?
