FIRST UPDATE FOR DIGISTIX 2

For anyone interested the first update for DigiStix 2 has dropped in the App Store.

Paul has now included an option to export songs and clips as midi files, and also an option to export directly to Helium’s clip folder.
The other updates are a new randomise function for multi layers, which works in a similar way to the round robin option and an option to temporally disable prompts when importing samples.

Also if anyone had an issue with pad status not working properly on banks B to D this is now fixed.

  • Can someone let me know exactly how this works, “It is 100% backward compatible with the original app, and can be used as a drop-in replacement”

Are the kits automatically shared between the 2 apps? Do I have to move each kit or can they all be moved at once?

I want to get 2, but over time I’ve added lots of kits into 1, so I’m curious how this works, and if I can then delete/offload DS1, once kits are moved over to DS2?

  • Bump. Hoping for some clarification before purchasing thanks…

  • Bump. I’m really hoping to find an answer before the DS2 sale is gone… How does backwards compatibly work with DS1 & DS2 can I move everything over to 2 and delete DS1?

I don't have Digistix 2 so I can answer your question but at least if you miss this sale you know that 4Pockets put their apps on sale regularly so you probably won't have to wait a long time before it goes on sale again.

  • True, but one of the main 4 pockets app I’ve been wanting is Atomizer and it hasn’t been on sale in 11 months. Ironic.

Yeah - I've been waiting for Flux to go on sale but no luck.

You can check pricing history on appsliced.com to try and gauge an upcoming sale. Not exact science but somewhat reliable. Just search for the app, scroll down to pricing history, expand, you can see every price change and amount since release.

    Thanks for that.

I have a few apps bookmarked that I wouldn't buy full price (I don't really need them) but would grab just for fun if they were on sale. Each day I have a look to see if they are on sale. Flux is one of them.

@Simon Yea appsliced also let’s you set price drop notifications, on apps, and IAP’s. With an account, just email really, just search the app on their site and look for set price drop notification button. You can then set how much of a discount you want before it to notifies you. Then you get an email if it drops to your set amount.

OK, thanks for that. I go to the site occasionally but never bothered to sign up.

If you use CB3 the built in SpinFX is actually a much better alternative.

Thanks for the tip. I have not taken the plunge yet. I used CB2 for awhile but about 2 years ago I fell into the AUM workflow. I still use Gadget, BM3, Nano, CB2, AB3 here and there, but I have so many DAW’s, even more then I just listed, lol, and mostly work in AUM so I haven’t been ready to upgrade just yet, I will at some point but at the moment I probably wouldn’t use it too much.

I do have replicant 2, GlitchCore, Scatterbrain, Koala FX, but I love using these types of stutter, glitch, repeat, short looping type effects and wanted a new option. The trick, at least for me is to use them sparingly, or at low settings, to add some unpredictability without going overboard. Although overboard is fun in it’s own right.

Believe it or not i used the site for years before I created an account. So I get it. I eventually decided I wanted those app/IAP price drop notifications. Especially on certain apps.

  • Lol, I just remembered I was originally trying to find out how backwards compatibility works with DS1 and DS 2. Lol. Nice tangent though.

The sale is over on DS2 but this is something I still would really like to know about, really curious how it works. I’m sure another price drop isn’t far off…😉

You might need to email Paul at 4Pockets for an answer on this one.

Right on, I’ll give it a little time see if anyone chimes in. If not I might. I figured someone had to have both on here and knew exactly how the backward compatibility worked….

I had not created much at v1 but the ones I had were not automatically available at v2. I did a quick test for you and was able to backup specific kits and then share the kit from Files to DS2. Seemed to work ok but YMMV. It does look like kits need to be exported one at a time, did not notice a bulk option. Hope that helps.

Awesome I just saw your response thanks for doing that. Bulk would be nice, but once I move them over I’ll probably remove version one. It’s on sale again but I’ve got some many drum apps recently I’m like… huh. DS 1 is my go to, so it might be time to upgrade. Thanks @MisplacedDevelopment
