More stupid app recommendation questions
An app to open, with an immediate and obvious record button. Showing wave file while I record. Would be handy to have a folder system for storing recorded files. Not a deal breaker though. Some decent editing features. Trim, cut section, loop. That's about it really. Would be cool if it had some effects to improve quality, noise gate, normalise, comp etc but no biggie really. The default in iPadOS is so, so close.

AudioShare?
my bad. it doesn’t show you the waveform, until you done recording
IRig recorder perhaps.
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/irig-recorder/id428498084
ShurePlus Motiv is designed to be used with their mics, such as Shure MV88, but works well standalone and allows minor editing, looping and shows bar waveforms as you record. It's free too.
TwistedWave Audio Editor gives you lots of control and us simple to use. It also allows you to use AUv3 plugins. They have a free version to try out as well.
Thanks. Twisted wave starts with a page to choose the sample rate, mono/stereo. I want a record button straight up. I have Audioshare, and gave it a good run but no, not for spur of the moment recording. I've had iRig recorder for years. Just fired it up and its still the same. Hey, check this ad out before you use the software you bought. The only bonus over the stock iPad offering is loop and I really have had enough of the IK app world. Downloading Shureplus MOTIV to check it out. Thanks for the ideas all.
Check out Hokusai - https://apps.apple.com/app/id432079746
Doesn't Voice Memos do all this? ..no effects but everything else.
Yep, except for looping a cropped selection.
BlocsWave maybe? If you close it in record mode then it seems to open in that mode:
I haven’t used it much but I think it has audio editing.
@MisplacedDevelopment Nice one. Will check this out. If it does have the recorded file editing functions and loads quickly to record the additional options could be a fantastic bonus.
Sorry…I read this as “more stupid ass recommendation questions”
Auditor?
I have Auditor and it is great for editing. Just looking for something simple. I've tried everything in this thread and about another 20 apps. They are either stupidly expensive, have a subscription or are missing some basic feature like looping. I think the stock Apple one minus the loop function might be the best option after all.
It's not available in the app store anymore, but if you got it before it went away, Music Memo has a really simple interface, loops and can trim. That shure app loops, but I don't think you can record while listening.
Edit, yeah that link doesn't work. But search your purchases for it. Great app that they should have kept developing.
Was Music Memos an Apple app? I found a site about transitioning from Music Memos to Voice Memos.
Might Ferrite fit the bill?

Thanks. I think I've resolved to using voice recorder. I really want something simple. I have a couple of audio editing apps i could use but I just want a tap, here is a record button, go. For recording an idea that just pops up.
