AUM vs ApeMatrix
What are the differences between the two? I own Audiobus and AUM and mostly use the former due to Loopy integration and sync settings.
Both AB and AUM come with their sets of idiosyncrasies so I’m just wondering about ApeMatrix being the forgotten third brother (or sister).
Any reason to get it in a hurry?

i'm an A UM user
) i like to use ApeMatrix to set up "keyboards" made of other keyboards and fxs
Cool, why not cutting out Aum and use AM for everything?
it's just the way my monkey mind works - i ♥ AUM - it works how i enjoy working with and for tracks
ApeMatrix i picked up later than AUM, and whilst it didn't click with me for track creating, the easy to use matrix (switching on/off/between) i find really inspiring to make mixes of keyboards, (combos of organs and delays, etc)
there is much crossover with all the apps available,,, how many delays does one really need? ,,, but each seems to me to offer a different 'spark',,, a different jumping off point
)
@simonnowis thanks!
Easy. All of them.
@klownshed
i'd say delays were something that has always pleased me,
but i'd only it again
and again
and ...
...
Can you do with AUM feedback loops, as you can with ApeMatrix ?
Below an example of how a simple pizzicato sound can be granularized recursively :

And the resulting sound, with no reverb added at any stage :
I use AUM for recording multi-channel jams in my home studio. I like the flexibility of the vertical lanes, each of which can be recorded.
I use apeMatrix to create networks of audio units, and automate parameters on each one. Such fun. apeMatrix is great for exploring new purchases.
I think they are both essential. Sometimes I combine the two.
Would you mind explaining the signal chain and routing here?
The apeMatrix screen is like a Putney (VCS3) patchboard matrix.
…and each pin includes an adjustable attenuator!
I got ApeMatrix a long time ago and never use it. Basic question: is it possible to record tracks?
The built-in LFO's to directly modulate anything and everything without additional plugins are really useful. Other than that, I don't really click with ApeMatrix all that well.
Only per matrix, or stereo mix.

And its stereo A and B aux busses can be routed into AUM via IAA.

So its recording features aren't as flexible as AUM, but it's MIDI sync, latency compensation per node, AU parameter LFOs, and modular matrix layout makes up for it, imo. They both make a good team.
Another good thing about apeMatrix is that it lets you send OR receive Midi clock, AUM doesn't like being the slave.
Finally a decent piece of information. This and buses would sell it to me even though Audiobus’ clock offset is hard to beat.
…and of course Audiobus has that little known feature where a session can be loaded by a program change message that Novation Circuit happens to fire on session load.
Ape Matrix can load presets via Program Change. It's disabled by default, but can be set to any channel in the Midi settings.
Very simple :
1/ 100% of FingerFiddle output feeds Spacecraft input
2/ roughly 50% of Spacecraft output feeds main out and 50% feeds Spacecraft input
3/ Apply step #2 again and again
Yes, in AUM you can create sends that loop back to their own channel, if that makes sense?
Brilliant!
I use AUM together with AB for external sync:
AB is slave to external MIDI CLOCK, and AB is sending LINK sync to AUM.
AUM slave to LINK from AB.
