Cubasis 3 not bypassing completely Aufx?
I've noticed that, even when the inserts Aufx are turned off, they're still altering the sound character.
This happened to me using different plugins, from different devs.
Anyone else experienced something like this?
Comments
Wow, that's quite fundamental! No, I haven't experienced that myself
Can you post a video that demonstrates?
I had a similar issue.
The last time it occured, I was working on a master tack so I had only one audio track with some effects. Mainly for EQ, compression and limiting: a few Mixbox effects, MDE, FF proQ, barricade...
When disabling one or more of these, the sound coming through the chain was not as it should be.
We experienced an issue with send effects in Cubasis, not sure if this is related. When an effect on the send bus is bypassed using Cubasis's own button, it will send the dry signal to the mix (whereas in almost all cases I could think of, no signal should be passed through). In many cases this has the exact same effect you describe.
I have never even considered that and I have probably almost 2000 iOS garageband projects.
Wow. That is fucked up if true.
You mean sometimes when I think something sounds like complete shit, it might not totally be my fault? Haha...
Exactly that!
It's more like colouring/filtering the signal.
If the channel and send paths have a different delay, due to a plug-in having latency say, then this could lead to comb filtering.
Well, that'd be the answer if they're send effects, but they're all insert effects.
Yes, I started getting this just a couple days ago. I would have to quit Cubasis and restart for the plugins to release (or so it would seem).
It only happens with Aufx's, the internal ones have a real true bypass.
@LFS
@sharifkerbage I think you meant to tag @LFS (it's a common mistake)
shhhiet! thanks for the heads up 😂
If you don‘t mind to spare some time it’s better to do a proper bug report over at Steinberg and use this form: https://forums.steinberg.net/t/how-to-report-a-cubasis-3-problem/138950
Right, I'll do that.
Reported.
Awesome, thanks Homie. I just lazily rolled over and tossed my iPad under the couch.
Hi @sharifkerbage,
Thank you for your report in the Steinberg Cubasis forum, which has been shared with our main engineer.
Please have a look at his reply below:
"I was unable to reproduce the issue with Cubasis 3.3.1 on a 2021 and a 2018 iPad Pro with iOS 14.7.1.
What I did is I created a new project, added an audio drum loop, added (almost) the same 4 AU effects as in the video, then I added BLEASS reverb, closed it, moved it to slot 3 and disabled it. The sound was the same after deleting it.
I assume you’re using the latest iOS 14.7.1 and Cubasis 3.3.1?
At the end of the video, when you add FAC Phaser, disable and remove it, the bug doesn’t seem to occur, right?
So maybe it’s related to disabling an effect after moving it? Can you confirm this?
Does the issue always occur with the project shown in the video? If that’s the case, please send me the project."
Please feel free to upload the project via Dropbox or similar and let me have the DL via private message.
We look forward to hear from you!
Thanks,
Lars
Hi Lars!
Well, after doing some more testing with different plugins and with empty projects I'm getting this:
Recreating the project from the video, it produces the same result: some of the aufx not bypassing at all (BTW, the last one I showed on the video, FAC phazer, does the same thing if you listen carefully).
The weird thing is that, if I duplicate the project opening the new duplicated one inmediately, it doesn't do it (i.e. it bypasses correctly).
This has happened before, it's like some processes get stuck in the project itself:
A couple of days ago I was using TB morphit at the very end of the Master Bus channel, and after removing it it was still processing the signal.. then I duplicated the project and this issue disappeared.
It looks like something related to project files maybe.
I'll DM you the dropbox link with the project file.
Best,
Adrián
