Streaming sound from non-audio bus apps?
Hi everyone
Apologies if this has been addressed already but I couldn’t see a thread. I’m looking for a way to stream sound into audio bus from non-AB apps. I use MyNoise a lot as it has incredible field recordings, and I’d love to pipe it through Audiobus to use effects and so on. I’d also be interested in streaming sound from safari.
Is this possible at all?
Thanks

(I use loopback on my laptop so wondering if there’s a similar app for iOS out there)
MyNoise doesn't have IAA connectivity?
Here's an AUv3 plugin (more up-to-date than deprecated IAA) that'll do that, but I don't have it.

AUv3 plugin for YouTube.

AUv3 plugin for WebSDR radio, which is different from web radio.

Fantastic, thanks ocelot. And no I don’t believe so re MyNoise. I think it’s pitched really as a sort of relaxation / ambience app but it’s so so good to work with musically.
Might be best to just screen record it then extract the audio using something like AudioShare
Agreed. You can also open the app via another device then connect it to the device you’re working on. In my case, I picked up a few used iPhone 6s with headphone jack.
Thanks both! I think either screenshotting or IDAM to ableton on my laptop then audioshare back to the ipad..... or I guess I could stick with laptop processing. Thanks for the help.
@pmichaelh if you have a 4 channel interface you might try a makeshift loopback. I have a video on sampling GarageBand into BM3. should work similar to what you are wanting.
Any non AB output can be looped back into AB with the simplest of USB interfaces such as the Behringer UCA222 by connecting the outputs to the inputs. Of course, this means that you can’t hear anything, but if you have a device with a headphone socket you can use AB’s multi-route feature to channel AB output to the headphones. In between the AB input and output you can do whatever you like. I’ve used this principle for multitracking non AB apps in Cubasis.

The software version would be screen recording as mentioned...
Like Paul just mentioned, the cheap and fun UCA-222 (or 202 too, probably) can do this. What I used to do was pan the sound full left and still monitor the signal from the right channel. But it's been long since I do that. Will give it a try again to see if i'm not talking nonsense
Even cheaper (but noisy) is the iRig. Recall seeing someone do that in the past
Great video, Mitch. Somehow I missed this back when you released.
Why does GB have to be a PITA sometimes? 😂
Thanks all. I’m travelling at the moment so short on interface possibilities, but if I want to keep it within the iPad I can do screen recording as you say:)
Ok I’m running into an issue. I screen recorded, and in photos the file is playing fine (I have to keep enabling sound as it defaults to mute, annoyingly). I export to my files, then import the AudioShare but when it arrives it’s silent. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.
Cancel that! Some genius made a shortcut for it I found on a reddit thread. I’ve got a lot to learn….
Not sure if this will help you, but I found a way to strip the audio from a video. This worked for an MP4 stored in FE File Explorer. I shared it with the EZ Audio Cut app (was free, on sale). I could then Edit it and Save the audio clip. Then I could Export the audio as M4A to AudioShare.
Edit: This worked with a screen capture as well. Though the original video was playable in AudioShare, but it's such a huge file. EZ AudioCut smoothly stripped off the audio and shared it to AudioShare. (I had to share the video from Photos to FE File Explorer before sharing to AudioCut; just one of those things.)
Thanks uncle Dave; I’m sorted though (above). I have no idea how the shortcut I found works, but it does.
