Splice *free packs* 24 hour giveaway

The homie on discord put us up on game: splice is giving away 5 packs for 24 hours with sign up for free trial. The packs are nice and have lots of sounds and loops.

Would appreciate some guidance on how to download an entire pack on IOS. Watched a couple of vids, but the download pack button doesn’t show up on the Splice app like it does in the video.

  • I dont think you can. :/

  • Yeah, man. A little inconvenient but the sounds are worth the hassle for free. Had to download to my PC and I’ll transfer them to my iPad as I need them.

  • Yeah. It's available until 2pm tomorrow. Just downloaded all of them. Have to join their discord. Even says you can download them if you're on trial!

Good catch and share @king_picadillo! Thanks!

  • Not sure you need to be on Discord, but you will need an active trial or subscription. Here are the packs:

    Total:
    4.06 GB (4,365,654,524 bytes)
    1,658 Files, 154 Folders

    Roughly 300 files per pack.

    Thanks for the heads up!

  • Looks like I got a second free trial, nice! Think I will likely stay subscribed this time. It is super nice just having Splice in the background while using BM3 and getting samples on the fly. Normally with this sort of thing I like to binge and organize a library but it is just nice to go with the flow and have zero library stress.

  • If you already have a splice membership, you can download these for 0 credits as well.

It seemed to need an active subscription.

  • I wish I could gift credits. I have been lazy and have over 9000! 😎😳

  • @onerez and I thought I was bad sitting on 681. hehe. Thats almost a lifetime of credits right there.

@AudioGus I have enjoyed having the subscription. Its nice to browse on my MacBook then sync Spice with my Akai Force.

  • @TheAudioDabbler …. Heck Mitch I have had the account for 5 years. 😂. Also BTW. You are one of the main reasons I made the switch to IOS music. The first video I recall watching from you that got me hooked was a modstep one!!!

    Anyway. Thanks Man!!!

Using the Splice app, samples can be downloaded to Files App > On my iPad > Splice > Samples.
And they're placed in the pack's folder.
    https://support.splice.com/hc/en-us/articles/219530428-Splice-Mobile-App

I wasn't able to directly download them using an internet browser (Safari, Aloha, Firefox, Documents browser).

There isn’t a way to do a whole pack in one shot though on iOS, is there?

@AudioGus Doesn't appear to be. At least it puts the samples in the appropriate folders.

@TheAudioDabbler When syncing Splice to your Akai, does it download all samples? If so, can you select the SD card or hard disk installed inside your Akai as the destination?

    Thanks.

  • I just download them on PC and move them over much faster.

  • @ocelot yes, you can choose your folder. I have a hard drive installed on the inside so I put all my samples on it. I also have it hooked up via Ethernet so it downloads fairly quickly. If I wanted to get the samples off of the HD, I could simply hook it up to the computer via USB and I can drag and drop samples directly to the HD or SD card if installed.

  • Thanks @TheAudioDabbler, sounds promising and very convenient. I figured it was a good time to finally take advantage of the free 3-months and 300 Splice credits that Akai offered.

  • Now I remembered why I hate Splice, bloated, convoluted, service. Total crapware.

Wouldn’t let me download them but charged me for the privilege of discovering it.

  • Weird, I just tried to start the trial and they want my credit card number?

  • It was for 24 hours only.

  • I want them but do not want to join Splice can some one repost them somewhere

Yes I am very old school one might say....HA HA
I was just interested in the LO-Fi pack
I don't even know why, just being lazy I suppose
I could very easily make my own LO-FI packs with my old school gear
SP-1200, S950, SP 202, SP 303, SP 404SX, and my army of vinyl records
A bunch of Chase Bliss guitar pedals,
    https://www.chaseblissaudio.com/pedals
iPad 12.9 2020 army of apps, and MacBook Pro
Plus I have been downloading sample packs since 2008....Pre-Splice
So I guess you see why I don"t need Splice
The pack by SOPHIE on Splice is banging though ...Peace

    Niice!

I was old school enough to know better than to sign up and then forget to cancel 🙂

  • So Splice doesn't have many multisamples packs of classic synths, keyboards, guitars, etc? I did a search for 'multisamples' and found 3 packs, and one cost almost 5000 credits.

So is Splice a warehouse full of 'song construction kits', drum one-shots, vocal samples, and FX? Jeez, if I even wanted 'song construction kits' I'd just get them for free from MusicRadar or Sampleism.

And most packs are on average ~400 or 500 credits?

And their iPad app is buggy.
And I still haven't found a way to download an entire pack in one go on the iPad.
Let's see how it goes today with my Akai with its 'integrated Splice' something or another.

And I'm supposed to have a free 3 month trial, but I couldn't find any indication of that, or a billing cycle...

    Hmmm, fun experiment.

End of my trial, think I will give sounds.com a try on Maschine instead. If the Splice app’s library just had a simple ios ‘share’ option where I could drop it in any folder I want (standard ios stuff, plus ios recalls the folder you specify after a while) that would be great. Hunting for it in files app, finding the folder name and moving the sample to Bm3 each time is too clunky after a while.

  • Hmmm, so Maschine has sounds.com integrated...I'll have to try that next time I get to play on one.

@AudioGus Do you use MK3's internal soundcard on a fast Windows laptop? If so, how's it been so far? Lots of dropouts or latency an issue?

I use it on a pretty beefy-enough desktop and it takes a lot for me to bog it down. At least, my tracks tend to get to the point where I want to finish them off elsewhere rather than continue them in Maschine, so that may be more on me, but I do run many instance of massive and the gang, although I did notice having recently upgraded to Komplete Something that Massive X sure makes that CPU meter hop up more. But no, never any dropouts or latency issues for me.

  • Thanks @AudioGus, that sounds promising. I've heard that Massive X is a CPU chomper. Do you use Reaktor 6, Blocks? Lots of interesting MIDI/synth/sampler/FX ensembles in that. And amazing free stuff on the Reaktor User Library.

btw, syncing the Akai with Splice is too darn easy. >2000 samples (2.4GB) in 30 minutes over my iPhone's hotspot :# . Modern technology!

And it even created folders and organized them:

I haven't got into Reaktor aside from some of the presets that load up from time to time. Does look amazing though. For the most part I just use the hardware to load up and tinker presets. When I dig too much into the mouse / keyboard side I lose my aura / mojo / soma etc

Sweet! Yah totaly didn't even consider hardware integration as a sample subscription factor. What new fangled times we live in. Praise Ford!
