Thanks @LFS
@LFS thanks for the heads up! 😊
Bought it primarily for the iPhone but I cannot activate the IAPs from the IPad into the phone as it’s not on the same iCloud address for data (same address though for the App Store). Do you know of any work arounds?
Thanks @LFS . Any hints on what awesomeness the next update will have for us???
It's funny how the Android version just passed the iOS version (3.3.2 vs. 3.3.1) hopefully the additional platform support doesn't have a negative impact on the phase at which new features are added...
Great.. Thanks..
Hi @Nu2moro,
Please follow these steps to sync your IAPs between the devices:

Hope that helps!
Enjoy making music
& stay well,
Lars
Dear @LFS
So far I haven't had Cubasis and Cubasis 2. Today I bought Cubasis 3 - I was late to the party, but I finally got there
I would like also to buy all IAP, but I read your answer in another topic, that IAP transfer is possible in one direction only, from C2 to C3. Because of that here are my two questions:
1) Are you going to add IAP transfer ability from C3 to C2 in the next C2 / C3 updates? (if yes, I will stay with C3 only + will buy all IAP in C3. If not, I will consider to buy C2, then IAP and transfer IAP to C3)
2) Do you think having C3 it makes sense to buy C2 as well? I know C2 will probably not be updated anymore, but 12$ sale price is tempting for older, but stable tool. I'm asking because of:
a - possible problems with curent C3 version
b - having all IAP on both C3 and C2 in case of using IAP also with C2
Thanks for advice.
@dakti I was always under the impression that the IAP transfers works in both directions (I’m sure Lars will confirm either way). As for picking both of them up, I’d say that Cubasis 3 is pretty stable these days but there are some niggles remaining (not ones I bump into personally but the was a recent thread on the forum pointing out what those niggles are.
Thanks @jonmoore for the comment.
From what I have read the current C3 version is certainly much more stable than at the beginning, but there are different comments on AB forum saying that for some users C2 works better and for another C3 works better
Anyway for sure there are many improvements to be made ahead of us in C3.
I found Lars comment from December 2020 in this topic -> "It is not possible to transfer Cubasis 3 in-app purchases to Cubasis 2". I hope this may have changed so far. We'll see what Lars writes back.
Kind regards.
If you really want C2 and C3, why not just purchase the IAPs in C2, then transfer them to C3?
Hi @wim,
You right, if I had a C2 I would definitely buy an IAP in C2 and do the transfer, but I'm just starting with Cubasis and maybe purchased C3 is all what I need. However, in case of possible trouble in C3 I want to avoid of buying all IAP in C2 (after additional purchase of C2 if I decide for that) for a second time, so I just checking the possibilities. C3 -> C2 IAP transfer feature would be a great solution for users who start from C3 and have already bought all the IAPs, but for some reason they want to try C2 as well.
Nice to see you are expanding and supporting Chrome OS. I take it that Cubasis is running as an Android app and not a Linux or Chrome app. Is that right?
From your comparison table, it doesn't look like there is any support for 3rd party plugins on Chrome OS. I don't know if it is even technically possible at this point, but I was wondering if you could say anything about future plans in this area.
It is really nice to see Steinberg taking the risks you are and putting your resources into new platforms -- good stuff!
The only difficulties I’ve had with C3 relate to multi-core - which I’ve switched off (iPad 8 for ref), or plugins (swapped).
I moved from C2 when the iPad 8 arrived, I would sorely miss the increased arrange page resolution in particular if going back to C2.
With regards to multicore, results are hardware dependent. It you’re using a recet iPad Pro with a decent audio interface running at 96k, multicore works well. If you’re on older hardware and run audio via the headphone socket you’re best disabling it in the preferences.
@LFS Did you actually read the question before the copy & paste answer?
The devices are NOT using the same iCloud account thus the official answer should be NO, It can't be done...
@Nu2moro You could try to temporarily log-in with an iCloud account that has the IAPs and restore them on the device?
(It might work, it might not but it's worth a try).
Cheers!
wow, is it possible to transfer IAPS from C2 to C3? anyone could remind here where to find the instructions?
Thank you for the tip that using an external interface my help, don’t think I tried that…
I think already the title of the announcement at the Steinberg forum answers your question: Cubasis 3.3.2 and Cubasis LE Trial 3.3.2 for Android available, adding Chromebook support
Anyway Android remains a poor choice for audio production as there is no audio plugin ecosystem but if you buy all the Cubasis IAPs I think you have quite a decent production environment.
Yes, you need to have both Cubasis 2 and Cubasis 3 installed on the same device in order for that to to work.
In the Cubasis 3 IAP App Store there's an option to transfer purchases. It will launch Cubasis 2 and do its magic using iCloud.
Once the transfers are done, it's possible to restore purchases on say an iPhone where only Cubasis 3 is available.
Cheers!
It’s still hardware dependent. Some audio interfaces may not be as smoove as others, and others elements in the chain such as the choice of hub and passthru power supply can all be factors too. Multicore on iOS is very much in it’s infancy, but seeing as the main advantages of Pro model iPads and iPhones is their multicore perfomance, it’s great that Steinberg are doing everything they can to leverage this extra power.
Yes IAPs transfer from CB2 to CB3.
@dakti I would just buy C3. IMO it is a significant improvement over C2, especially in term of the user interface and general functionality.
C2 will never get any more features whereas C3 is still in its infancy.
If you already have tonnes of AU plug-ins then the IAPs are not essential, but most of them are very good and use very little CPU. If they are 50% off it is certainly a very cheap way of getting a large number of quality plug-ins for peanuts.
Hi @MAtrixplan,
Please have a look at our dedicated forum article to learn how it‘s done:
https://forums.steinberg.net/t/how-to-transfer-cubasis-2-in-app-purchases-to-cubasis-3/138995
Best,
Lars
Hi @Samu,
That‘s the way it works…
Best,
Lars
I think the chromebook release was a kind of low hanging fruit. I assume they made the Android version compatible. IMHO RasPi and Linux make no sense as Cubasis is for touch devices. In this sense I’d rather bet on a release for Windows tablets or surface devices but that could probably collide with Cubase Elements, hmm….
I think the Chromebook edition is as much about accessibility as anything else. Cubasis is in truth a gateway drug for Steinberg. Those that start out on iOS/Android/Chromebook will hopefully choose Cubase on the desktop if they need a more sophisticated DAW. I’m not certain that loyalty is guranteed but it’s certainly part of the reason Steinberg have commited to mobile platforms.
Hi @d4d0ug,
Thanks for your message.
Did I get you right, that you are asking for a Cubasis iOS sale?
It's available and let's you save 50% on Cubasis for iOS and all in-app purchases.
Hope that helps!
Lars
Hi @dakti,
We offer these IAP transfer options:
If you plan to use the IAPs with Cubasis 2, it might make sense to purchase them for Cubasis 2 and transfer them afterwards.
Hope that helps!
Best,
Lars
