Zoom R8 drums with arpeggiator?
I use the zoom drums extensively but I'd love to add an arpeggiated track with my synth. Any way to turn the drum wav file into midi clock? I bought the korg d3200 thinking it would help. It didn't.

No, but it’s possible to record a clock pulse for output via headphones on the R8, then use it as clock master to control a synth with clock in and midi, then output midi clock via that device.
I was thinking I'd get the E-rm midi clock and connect it to the headphone out like you mentioned. Why do you say record the clock pulse instead?
If you sample the clock pulse or clock trigger (they vary, one above zero crossing and the other below), you can then replace the metronome sound with this trigger pulse wav file and direct it to the headphone output, remember the headphones are stereo and the pulse only needs a mono output though. This would conform to CV Gate and also Hertz S-trig standards.
I understand most of what you said. Where do I sample this clock pulse? From my DAW? I'm not sure what that is. I thought I heard one of the metronome sounds on the zoom works? NM I think I figured it out.
You could sample the clock pulse from a drum machine or synth that outputs clock sync, but it will also need to have clock in to accept the return pulse from the R8, you will also have to adjust the volume to match the amplitude of the pulse.
I have a korg R3, I will try it! Though I'd read only the volcas or SQ will accept an audio pulse. I want to sell my R3 anyway.
Ok I got the korg SQ 1 and also the clock pulse sample. I've tried the headphone routing but it actually seems as though it's just taking the bass drum sound to get the tempo. So the SQ 1 has the tempo judging by the blinking lights. Now when I try to get my keyboard korg r3 set to receive external clock, it just goes mute.
Got the sq1. Was not able to replace the metronome sound with a sample but I was able to get the sq1 pulsing with the zoom r8. Unfortunately then the keyboard arp was very slow pulses. Not the classic one note arp I hoped for.
I think you can alter the factory sync resolution on the SQ-1 to alter the clock resolution of the SQ-1 this may work, you could also alter the rate of the arp on the keyboard to a smaller division 32, 64 perhaps?
The R8 is only outputting 1 pulse per quarter note at the moment.
