Send the MIDI data over and the software will show you how to play it
Looks like a interesting MPE midi controller. One thing, I only see Windows software. I just emailed them about this.
Looks like a hardware geoshred that only works with windows.
Mmmm…
It’s a Sensel Morph….
Yes it is! So you're paying for the enclosure and software... but losing the flexibity of using the Morph for anything else...
It looks like one of those projects that will sell a handful and good luck to the fella with his DIY enterprise. But there are so many better options. Sensel Morph with Buchla Thunder overlay and I’m in heaven.
If you've seen the competition and you like this one the best, forget the groupthink and just go for it.
Some questions that I ask of new gear these days:
For me, Linnstrument's the only real contender, but it'd mean saving up for twice as long.
Maybe, but it looks way more sensitive. I think.
It looks like Osmose has been derailed by supply chain breakdowns. It’s still the one I want.
I wonder if the cloth surface needs cleaning, and if so, how.
And Linnstrument is the one that's on my shopping list. Unfortunately, it keeps on getting nudged down by other more essential purchases.
And funnily enough, I go through a similar purchase rationale process to yours and the Linnstrument will always hold resale value. It's Roger Linn after all so even if it plays like a soggy sponge they'll always be collectors willing to part with their hard-earned.
Is this thing pressure sensitive?
If not, what's the difference between this and a 2D Lemur keyboard on iPad?
And if you don't like touching glass, put some cloth on the screen?
Yes, it's a custom build with a Sensel Morph inside.
Looks a little, um, homebrewed. Plus, it seems to fail the universal Colonel Mustard GAS test on a number of crucial points.
I feel that. Essentials are taking ever larger slices of the great pie chart. It's actually one down from the SSL SiX on my wishlist (a small, high-end mixer, for those who don't know it) but it looks like it'll be a long while until I'm flush enough to spring for either. I expect @LinearLineman will get his Osmose in the interim
I wondered about cleaning the cloth surface too, @mojozart. Especially considering that the whole point is that you touch it a lot. The designer(s) must think about this stuff, one would think, but I wonder what they do about it.
Thanks!

Not to digress too far. The SSL SIX is a work of genius but if you buy one, you'll end up wanting to partner it with the SSL 2+ audio interface.
Always a danger!
Still, I have no interface complaints. Have been enjoying an Apogee Quartet since 2015. It felt wildly extravagant, buying a 4-channel interface for £850 (refurbished back then) but after six years of daily use, I could probably still flip it for £650 without very much effort.
Not that I'm looking to sell it, mind you. It's a great piece of kit that I use every day (I'd miss it). I guess I'm just making the same point, but from another direction. I believe we are aligned, @jonmoore
Indeed we are aligned @colonel_mustard, I was jesting nothing more. The SSL 2+ is great value if you can make do with two inputs, and positively bargain basement when compared to Apogee studio kit.
Why not Erae Touch? They consulted with Roger Linn while making this product. So hoping it will be as sensitive as Linnstrument with much less price.. Flexible layout, 5 axis sensitivity etc all good stuff..
Yes, no tactile division between notes if you can live with that...
