The EQP-1A based on Classic Program Equalizer from the '60s, original EQ is renowned for its unique ability to boost and cut the same frequencies simultaneously, thereby creating a resonant shelf, the EQP-1A faithfully models the overbuilt transformers and complex tube amplifiers of the original hardware.

Three independent sets of controls make it possible to boost on a peak curve at 200…1000 Hz while simultaneously boosting on a peak curve at 1.5…5 kHz, while simultaneously dipping at 200…7000 Hz.

Instabuy for me, I love a good Pultec emulation, I’ve been using Apogee’s Pultec plugin a LOT on desktop. This is definitely something that was missing from the IPad platform for me personally.
I wonder how it compares to the EQ-1A in MixBox?
I wish RRS OOO apps had anti-aliasing for their analog modes.
Even with 8x oversampling, their compressor has audible aliasing.
If you don’t want aliasing in your tracks, keep the “Analog” button switched off.
I don’t have mixbox to compare, because it’s only iPadOS.
I must admit I’m not a 100% with their emulations. They get the curves right but there’s none of the non-linearities modelled. When you hit them hard they don’t really respond any differently. Used in combination with a saturation stage improves things greatly, but doesn’t make the emulation any more accurate. Having an accurate faceplate graphic doesn’t equal an accurate emulation.
On the other hand I like their business model in that they allow you an unlimited demo (albeit limited to 5 minute sessions on each launch) so at least you’re able to judge things for yourself before buying. I suppose the downside of this is that you’re fighting it out in the free Music category on the App Store chart with all the other music toys.
@gusgranite I far prefer the MixBox emulation, which is great in combination with their 670 compressor emulation. You don’t get the mid-range module, but most people use Pultec emulations on the bass end (kick drums, bass, synth bass etc etc) and the mid range module isn’t too important here. But if you want some mid range bite, the SSL and Neve emulations are a better fit in the chain.
Lol, true but I’m not really expecting to get a 100% true emulation of both plugins for $8.99. It’s just another nice iPad eq to add to the collection 🤷🏽♂️
You can only hear aliasing if your ears are hearing below -120 dB.
It looks like no emulation does what you are talking about.
The only difference is in the IK multimedia plug-in at low frequencies, they just added a 10Hz cutoff, which was not in the original device that we emulated.
My 44 year old ears can even hear this on the tiny built-in iPhone speaker.

All RRS apps are awesome.
I’m just not a fan of “Analog” buttons that make the sound more digital.
Most other devs eg. Nembrini have the same “problem”.
Toneboosters sound like actual analog, but they don’t have the classics like RRS, so I normally use them together. (RRS clean -> Barricade saturation)
I'm also a massive fan of the Barricade input stage. But there's one Toneboosters processor you need to watch and that's their tape emulation. I've noticed a bug in the current version. It still adds noise even if you've disabled it. This isn't an issue if you stick to using their tape emulation on the master buss (or any single instance), but if you have multiple instances, that low-level noise builds up.
I'm actually a believer in low-level noise being an important glueing aspect in a tape emulation, but the artist should be able to disable it. Seeing as Toneboosers have a control for the noise level, I'm hoping they fix this bug soon. I tend only to use ReelBus 4 on the master-buss so the bug isn't affecting my workflow, but I'd like the option to be able to use multiple instances.
Have you let them know about this? They’re usually really quick to respond and correct any errors in their apps
That’s strange. I put three instances in a row with the noise level set to zero and the analyzer shows a clean signal.
Here are my settings:

On further investigation, the noise was coming from one instance of FAC Chorus and One instance of Lunar Lander. It was then being amplified by the instance of Reelbus on the master buss. I should have spotted the Lunar Lander noise as I like a bit of BBD noise with Lunar Lander, but I hadn't realised that FAC Chorus was adding an accurate Juno style chorus noise (also BBD if memory serves right ref Juno chorus specifics).
It's roughly -60dB from FAC Chorus and -80dB from Lunar Lander, with Reelbus adding no noise, the total noise is close to -50dB (with a relatively gentle 30 IPS compression). Still unnoticeable in the context of a mix but it's worth knowing that noise builds every time you add an instrument or FX that includes background noise as part of the emulation.
