How To Make SHOEGAZE Guitar Patches Using Only BLEASS Apps On Your iPad

It occurred to me that I could probably make fairly convincing Shoegaze guitar patches with AUM using only BLEASS Apps.

I chose the BLEASS Apps for a few reasons.
1, there are lots of them.
2, they are super flexible and creative.
3, they look brilliant, and if you are going to gaze at something it may as well look nice too.
4, it's nice to limit yourself sometimes to one developer.
5, they are brilliantly efficient on your device resources.
6 they sound great.

Why did I choose SHOEGAZE?
Because you can go bonkers with the effects.
And, of course, I love the genre.

If you are not sure what SHOEGAZE is you can check out lots of cool stuff on YouTube.
But basically, the term refers to a particular genre that has its roots based in the late '80s and early '90s and is so-called because the guitarists used massive amounts of effects to create huge cascading walls of sound.
And would spend most of their time looking down at their effect-loaded pedalboards, which to the observer looked like they were gazing at their shoes.

It is widely accepted that the Loveless album by My Bloody Valentine was the first real Shoegaze album, which came out around 1991 and still sounds amazing...and loud.
There are a couple of other major Shoegaze milestone albums to also have a listen to, they are Slowdive's Souvlaki & Nowhere by Ride.
Other well-known Bands that could be classed as Shoegaze include The Jesus And Mary Chain and the Cocteau Twins.

Hope you enjoy the video and find some inspiration to have a blast yourself making some Shoegaze music on your iPad.

The story of making that album is amazing - it was recorded between February 1989 and September 1991 and just about sent Creation Records broke. The band hired nineteen different studios and several engineers during the album's prolonged recording:

  • Was not aware of the reason for the name of the genre, thanks Doug! Will there be a Sound Test Room series of patches in BLEASS apps? (Fingers crossed)

  • This was a fun video to watch. Makes me want to buy more guitar pedals…

  • @NeuM Yes, I feature BLEASS stuff on a regular basis👍
