I once interviewed Diamanda Galas, who may not be to everyone's taste, but she has an amazing instrument in her voice. And she went OFF when the topic turned to scat singing. WHY — I'm paraphrasing, like, 20 years later — would anyone want to sound like a saxophone or a trumpet! Every instrument ever invented has tried and failed to reproduce the human voice, which is the most subtle instrument ever?!
Which is to say that it's cool to see this guy do this, but if you heard it without seeing the trick, I doubt you'd be impressed.
Helluva lot easier to haul to a gig than a drum and percussion kit though.
