Welcome back, mate!
Nothing to add, except the much needed Earl reference
At least 2 months of constantly nerve racking wait for LoopyPro Beta launch
FTFY...can't rush a masterpiece!
Ha…thanks. This nick is so old, actually í´m tired of it but too lazy to change it here (and elsewhere) 😁
And thanks everybody for the contribution ✌️
If you hadn’t missed the big excitement that was the above, you’ve probably yet to miss the realisation that although it is a capable, sophisticated and flexible synth, it actually doesn’t ever sound very good in the end.
…
That’s one app I clearly expected too much out of... It really disappointed me and I’ve not used it more than once since I first bought it. I think for people who concentrate on live performance versus studio work, it might be more of interest.
I don't have this synth, but it sounds really really good to my ears.
How it compare to Continua?
See, now that is interesting.
I wonder if it's because it doesn't have an effects section? Does everything sound 'unfinished'?
Would ambient reverb help?
I'd better be careful using that word on this board. I mean a wisp of (very) short reverb blended in, like clothes for sound (who likes short shorts?).
You missed a hole in your wallet
Nothing is happening... Why do you ask?
I think this must be a case of horses for courses. I don’t play live, but use Gauss a great deal. It’s fantastic for generative stuff, especially with multiple instances with different loop lengths, or for Frippertronics style long delay lines when using loop decay.
Wasn’t expecting a “My Name is Earl” reference. That’s awesome.
As a Natlab/Radiophonic Workshop fan I really can appreciate GAUSS. The only thing I’m missing/would like to see: The ability to “cut” the tape or just looping a part of it. From the other hand: this limitation also stimulates creativity. Record some household sounds and end up with some crazy loops and/or FX.
Mononoke is nice too, but since I’ve also got a Lyra-8 I’d prefer the latter. The Lyra-8 has something in its sound that makes it “alive”.
Fundamental has a great sound but is some sort of niche generator.
Lunar Lander is pretty nice too, I love the dirty aspect of the delay but to be honest I like the delay on my Lyra-8 even more!
Toneboosters Flowtones I like a lot because of the randomizing feature, that’s one of the best available. Soundwise there may be better synths available but this feature works inspiring, especially when I record it with my Morphagene and go in from that.
Personally I would love some sort of app that emulates an old tape studio. Fundamental as an oscillator bank, something like GAUSS for the looping and Lunar Lander for echo’s and reverb. Perhaps even a version of Hainbach’s Wires in it. Maybe I need to get creative with AUM….😇🤞
You could probably achieve looping part of the tape by having a second Gauss instance and recording a short section from the first instance. Put them in series, and use the Monitor switch to pass through the long loop until you want the shorter one on its own. Might need to be quick with multiple fingers, though!
Wanted to ask for a more specific recommendation.Something that gives me MPC feel inside Cubasis and that i can feed with the samples from my NI Expansions…still have beathawk or digistix v1 but the second one is more a drumcomputer and i do remember both did not run supergreat in cubasis last year (timing issues etc).
BUT i just figured that GR16 is AU as well now??Thats big and i think i found what i‘m looking for then (saved me some money as well lol). And even without trying yet,i assume the timing should be great in cubasis (?).That was always a strength of this app (when slaved to external midi etc)
edit: wow,i‘m blown away by having GR16 as AU in cubasis.Runs great with multile outputs and absolut TIGHT.This was the missing link for me.As standalone it never really clicked with me (always prefered i.e. gadget more) but melted together in such a beautiful way with cubasis is next level shit 👌
edit 2: aaaand the first showstopper.Cubasis just froze and then crashed. What did i do?Only one instance of GR16 in a new project (multiple outs). No fx.I switched to messanges app and back to cubasis.GR was in expanded view.Wanted to close this view and the rest is history…
SOME things will never change in ios it seems 😟
Are there any midi fx were i can import custom chord progressions from a midi file or something like that?Like Xfer
or similar to an mpc One/Live were i can put chords into the piano roll and export it as chord progression?
Yes, 4Pockets Helium is a piano roll effect that has a library of midi clips and "song" into which you can import midi files (including bulk imports of e.g. midi packs).
Thanks although not really what i mean.I want to record (from midi) or import midi files and map them (or have them automatically mapped) on virtual pads in an app like ChordPolyPad for example.Sure,i could create/save them all“manually“ but i was hoping there would be an easier/faster way.
But Helium looks interesting nonetheless.
Would LK work for this? You can record MIDI directly into its clips or import MIDI files directly.
