Changing stereo kick and bass samples to mono
Hello everyone.
I have Cubasis 3 and AUM. How do you change the stereo kick and bass samples to mono when you are mixing?
Thanks in advance.
Comments
There is no mono switch option in cubasis. You can use several apps to set things to mono.
I usually group the low end tracks (sub, kick and bass) and use fabfilter pro Q to cut using “side” or do it on the masterchannel for the entire track.
In Cubasis 3, there's an IAP for FX Pack 1. In there is a stereo width plugin. Set the stereo width to 0%, and voila. Instant mono fx.
In AUM, there's an internal plugin called "Stereo to Mono" under stereo processing.
Hope this helps.
Yea in AUM it’s an internal effect. Here’s a pic. It’s under stereo processing.
Exactly.
Have you tried using a mid/side EQ ?
You can cut the sides off the lower frequencies and keep the stereo width of the rest.
Or you can just use this https://apps.apple.com/us/app/stereo-width-control/id1493044617
Just curious : how do you guys go about putting low end to mono?
Do you instantly put kick and bass to mono in the beginning stages of the track or do you highpass side on the master channel for this?
Imo there is still a substantial amount of stereo low end present in lots of edm tracks. Not a lot but enough to keep wondering where these pro artists cut depending on song, style...
Clubs playing mono systems bwee, lots are using stereo these days, so where do we realy, realy cut our lovely low end freqs?
