Fractal Bits. I need a hardware equivalent, now!

I love it to bits. :) If I’d want something similar but in hardware form - what to get?

I think using Digitone (not takt) as a drum synth would get you close.

Also, Volca FM, heavily motion sequenced, can make Fractal Bits sounds for days also. Fantastic sampler fodder.

In fact, Fractal Bits kind of sounds like samples. Especially when the sounds are pitch shifted. Following this model, I'd use the Volca FM for samples (seriously, limitless glitch percussion machine), and then use DigiTAKT to sample and slice those sounds. That would get you closer to the Fractal Bits sound I think, and still have a pretty fun and immediate workflow.

I think I'm missing something here. If you have FB on your iPad, what is the attraction of getting it on a hardware device?

You say "need a hardware equivalent, now!" - why?

Right, just sample Fractal Bits to a sampler. It seems like a bunch of random noises with little per sound control.

But to get "all" of FB you'd need to sample several billion samples as there are some huge number of possible combinations in the app (billions?).

But you don't even need to worry about sampling - just get another iDevice and load Fractal Bits onto it and you have a "hardware version". It's FB on "a piece of hardware" (i.e. the iDevice). Problem solved.
