Rythmic and percussion loops apps with AUv3 support
Hey,
Maybe this has been asked before but I will give it a go.
In the last couple of weeks I've been trying to make music on a regular basis.
I've been feeling the need to have drum loops (percussions, hit hats, etc) to fill my compositions but I don't know what are the best apps for that.
Therefore, I'm looking for an app or apps that have auv3 support, a nice built in library of percussion samples (loops or not), and an interesting range of expansion packs.
What are you using for this purpose? I would like to hear your thoughts.
Thanks!

BeatHawk...
Hey Samu! Thanks for your reply!
I have BeatHawk. Never tried to load it as an AUv3! Will try tonight.
Is BeatHawk playing alone in this segment?
If you want a large variety and selection of sounds then pretty much yes...
There are some drum samplers like Koala, Digi Sticks, EGPulse & sEGments, Sugarbytes Drum Computer all AUv3.
(Drum Computer ships with tons of sounds and synthesis capabilities).
I would not dismiss the Ruismakers and FractalBits (Random percussion sound generator) for adding extra spice and the can easily be sequenced by anything.
Some of the Klevgr apps like Skaka (shaken percussion) might be worth a look.
There's no IAP store and things like that it it provides a good selection of shaper percussion (Shakers, Tambourines etc.) and adds nice spice to everything.
Too keep things simple don't focus too much on 'built-in sounds' since it's always easy to dump over samples from the desktop to the iPad and load them into 'sample players' like Koala, EGPulse/sEGments or DIgiSticks...
If one for example has tons of ESX instruments (from Logic) on the Mac it's easy to import them into AudioLayer and use it as an AUv3.
Depending on which 'host' I used it may already provide a usable sampler that can be loaded with user samples & loops.
Cheers!
easy to import but still need some work. Round robin is lost , choke layer too.
and some EXS can"t be used at all( those that use a sing le sample with references points)
Converted EXS often didn't sound as good as originals.
Also Audiolayer lack multi out so very difficult to mix drums part.
Though this still the best multisampled auV3 sampler available
I'm fully aware of that and since I've already got Logic running on my Mac I see no practical reason to port over the stuff to my iPad at all. I do sometimes dump over some single samples for use with other apps like BM3, Drambo, SunVox etc.
For me sampling is mostly 'oldschool' using one sample and no need for modern time stretch.
It's enough to chop an re-sequence slice to adjust the tempo
(Ie. I'm NOT a fan of multi-gigabyte sample libraries as it's mostly just wasting storage space anyway).
If you are after acoustic percussion you could use the DrumPerfect Pro Auv3 player ( free with DPP ) and expansion packs like Latin Percussion, Cajon Flamenco, Handpan Visions and Batucada. Lots of Brazilian/Afro Cuban/Latin percussion instruments and vast library of authentic patterns/songs in many genres/styles.
Or make your own with the editor.
Samples and loops are supported.
You can check these demos.
Or even create weird tracks like this one with your own samples.
