The amount of files you get is crazy
Frankly you will never be able to check them all , if you are busy making music .

Even Ownhammer might agree with you so they've provided a thorough tutorial on getting started. Definitely worth checking out if you're considering their IRs. Once I followed these steps, it was relatively easy to organize the files I wanted (the "Summary" files) for use in IMPULSation and TH-U as well as on a Mac. The same file structure worked great in Thafknar too but I prefer the IMPULSation interface.

BTW, I also installed some beautiful Lexicon and Bricasti reverb IR libraries in IMPULSation.

Come on people. We all know that the purpose of a convolution app is for staring at and basking in the ambience of a beautiful interface. I mean sure, it can probably do something to sounds if we put them through it, I think. But does anyone really care about that when it's just sitting there wanting to be enjoyed for what it is ... a scintillating work of graphic art?

I'm not sure I believe it, but I've heard that there are people who don't even look at their IR app once loaded. I guess I shouldn't be so surprised. Musicians can be a really oddball crowd. Thafknar is probably more suited to that fringe element, I guess.

With your recent posts deriding the importance of thoughtfully designed interfaces, I'm beginning to think you live in a home comprised of timber frames alone. Maybe the natural beauty of timber offends your aesthetic too, so make that a home of iron girders alone! :)

AltiSpace 2 by Igor Vasiliev (iMusicAlbum) is just about to drop in the store any minute now. It allows you to add your own IRs, has a lot of sophisticated controls in a very easy to use interface. I will have a video up on it soon!

  • WhooOOOOOaaaa.... another famous Gavinski Tutorial? Will this one include a chance to win a FreeBee? Did I mention one of my favorite kind of apps is the free kind? Bring it on now, don't make me wait.

    Intriguing… thanks, Gav

Not far off the mark. If I had my preference, I'd live in a backpacking tent. B)

As for an IR cab loader ... I look at it for a total of about two seconds a day. Once it's loaded, it just sits in the background. The look of the thing just isn't important as a deciding factor between such an app. I give it about as much thought as I would the aesthetics of my toothbrush.😉

Other apps are more interactive, so looks come more into it.
