    Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to hop in and comment on a few things. First, thanks for checking out Zentracker. As some of you have pointed out, this app is not aimed at the hard core Audiobus users.

    @cyberheater put it best.

I’m looking at it as a simple digital portastudio.

That is goal of Zentracker. A simple quick way to capture and edit multitrack audio. It is like a light version of Zenbeats and will stay that way for simplicity sake.

For Zenbeats users, all I can say is this. We are (and have been) working on fun new stuff for Zenbeats and I can't wait to share it with you guys when it's ready. I can say, some of those enhancements are in Zentracker today so I encourage you guys download Zentracker and check it out. I'd love to get your feedback on the overall usability, navigation, new tracking and editing features and such. Your feedback on Zentracker will help us shape the next version of Zenbeats.

They basically took Zenbeats and made it uglier.
Just as Zenbeats, no way to audition changes in the audio editor, which kills the meaning of it.
No midi tracks, basically just a loop and track recorder.
Mixer goes only full screen, colours and interface are ugly (personal taste ).
if you own Zenbeats, or any other iOS DAW, you don’t need this (obviously people might think it’s useful).
the only good thing, i’ve found is that now the playhead plays immediately when you change it’s position in timeline.
When @MatthewAtZenbeats said they were working on something top secret, i hope it’s not this 😂
    Pass for me.

@Paa89 As I mentioned above this not all we're working on. Thanks for the feedback on the audio editor! Question, did you try the dark theme? If not, I'd love to get your opinion on it.

Hmmm… mixed feelings about this. I fully acknowledge that Roland wants and needs to make revenues. This multi-track audio workstation surely fills the needs of some people, bands for instance. It will get Roland some more subscriptions without a lot effort. Simply stripping down Zenbeats. I also would have preferred they would have spent the resources into improving Zenbeats.

Let’s see this positive. Probably this app will enable Roland to fund the development of both apps. In my opinion the Midi part of Zenbeats is already quite good. What is missing is more in the audio part, audio busses for instance. And the audio capabilities seem to be shared by both apps.

@krassmann I hear you and know we are working on improving Zenbeats. Adding new audio engine/editing features was a big focus with Zentracker and those improvements will be coming to Zenbeats. I'd love to get your feedback on our new touch editing experience on both pattern handling and editing. Feel free to DM me any thoughts.

    Thanks for the kind words.

we've all a bit harsh because we have big hopes for Zenbeats and get a bit disappointed when we discover Zentracker.

I'll take a look at Zentracker and share some thoughts.

    Cheers

  • I’m finding this pretty good, in fact. It’s well specced for a mutitracker and no glitches so far. The workflow and design work well together.

  • I’ve found some glitches with the interface and reversing samples. Reported through the app and acknowledged within hours. I think it’s got some potential.

  • I didn’t like my AU effects anyway.

The dark theme definitely looks much better.

    waiting on Zenbeats update 😊

Can’t believe I missed the post. Been using the app for a bit and I really like it.

For Android, that is.... it’s a light tool that allows me to use the effects from Zenbeats, and it gives me a track view. Koala is my go-to for quick samples, but this allows me to process the sounds quicker, and it doesn’t take that much space.

Now if it supported Audioroute, we’d be in business 😂 Jokes aside, I like the promise of this tool.

    Hi Matt

I’m afraid forum members have a sense of entitlement and have a tendency to bully developers and leave scathing reviews if all their wants are not met lol

Yet they remain a small percentage of iOS device users who make music on them

For all their demands, I’ve not yet heard much music that would actually be publicly fit for release on a industry standard label

    So it doesn’t make sense

I had a look at your app

I cannot do much with it myself but best of luck with it

  • The more I try it the more I like it. It’s like a more conventional version of Multitrack DAW. It doesn’t aim too high, but it hits its target, musicians recording in audio with minimal editing needs. I can see it being very useful to a lot of people, although I imagine it has limited appeal for Dramboists!

  • I always thought Zenbeats could have used a rework of the Audi engine. Glad to see it happening. I like the dark theme

  • You can access your Zb content in Zt. Well , I can. You lot probably won't be able to as you're nowhere near as cool as me.

@MatthewAtZenbeats I like the idea of an entry level multi track recording app, and I could tell immediately after downloading it that it was not intended for this crowd. But it should make some people very happy. It looks cool enough and it is Free.

However, the Roland login UI is the worst ever. Absolutely confidence destroying on Android and now even in Zentracker on iOS.

The other issue is that its description in the App Store doesn't make its relationship to Zenbeats clear. I don't think it even mentions Zenbeats. I think Zentracker's reception would be greatly improved if these two issues were addressed.

I never had any problem with logging in on iOS. You just do it through the app.

The relationship with Zenbeats (which I don’t think is fully established yet) is explained in the in-app store. Store > Membership.

The basic Core membership is $3 a month or $30 a year and includes a 30 day trial of the Ultimate membership which is $20 a month or $200 a year.

I don’t have a problem with subscriptions. I can trial it for small money and decide if it’s something I need.

Well, now that you ask I'm wondering if, perhaps, I'm not more cool than you lot. I have access to some of the stuff I used to have on Zb and it's pretty random so I just thought that Roland had a look at their subscriber base, saw that I was gracing them with my patronage and unlocked the sample bank for me. Could I be wrong? First time for everything, I guess.

I'm an app developer, so maybe I'm extra harsh, but in addition, unlike the average user, I report bugs instead of giving up in frustration. In this case, I'm hoping to get word to Roland and trying a few different channels.

As to why you don't have a problem, I'm guessing you don't use a password manager or a custom keyboard. (OTOH, no offense, how you login on iOS is not my concern.)

There are people here that release on major labels. Not sure if this place is about critiquing apps either. Apart from that I wholeheartedly support and endorse your post.
