Pads in Cubasis
I'd like to use pads in NS2. Does anyone know if there's an app that can do what the keyboard/pads do in Cubasis please, or can Slate do this?
Thanks.

This is my go to, just brilliant (apart from in Logic Pro, where loading it immediately crashes LP)
Yeah, KB-1 is a really good play surface app, BUT, as you mention, it crashes Logic Pro instant…
Unfortunately I don’t have big hopes that KB-1 will be updated in near future (or else)…
The developer Kai Aras have 15 apps on Appstore and non of them have been updated for the last eight month (and many not for years)…
Thanks, do you know if it will work in NS2?
Yes it does…
Hold in mind that is pretty unintuitive to record MIDI from MIDI FX apps in Nanostudio 2…
There’s an workaround, ping @dendy if you have question around this…
xequence pads.
Slate templates.
Kb1 has 2 of the same notes for all or most setups.
When re working the layout so theres not another same note.
It only saves 1 preset of remapping.
Like koala.
So if you ever needed a different setup to make more pads than the app offers.
You cant because it saves 1 set of remapped data.
The reason I bought xquence for 64 pads.
If we are talking about recording MIDI KB-1 into NS sequencer, there is way which involves external app Streambyter but honestly i found it too convoluted ... for this particular case just run standalone KB-1 app, select midi out in app "Nanostudio 2" and that's all .. any track in Nanostudio which you select as active and then switch to KB-1 app will receive midi notes from KB-1 and if you hit record in NS it will also record those midi notes to sequencer
that is simplest solution in my opinion
Thanks guys, always a solution to problems here, that's why it's a great forum 👍
I know what you mean. I've emailed the dev about LP crashing and got no response. It's worrying because I use it in so many projects for both iOS and desktop. I'd gladly pay for an updated version.
Well, actually why you don’t use it then just same way like i suggested for NS2 ? Just run standalone app and rexord it into logic like any other external (hw) midi controller ;-)
Dendy, don’t be that smart guy constantly 😎😎😎
Yeah, of course, you’re right…
What disadvantage is that workflow compare to MIDI FX AUv3 (if we think yet another time)?
All i have in mind in speciffic case of KB1 is that you need switch between apps which may be inconvenient when you want record (you need hit record in daw and then quickly switch to kb-1 before daw starts recording)
on other side KB-1 allows split screen, if logic allows split screen too (nanostudio unfortunatelly does not), that would be solution..
Actually - i see KB-1 more practical to use as standalone controller than as plugin, cause in real world you want to use it on different tracks … so if DAW supports same dynamic midi routing as NS (receive midi only on active channel) - this way is much more handy than load it individually on each track where you want to use it …
I think about KB-1 about just simply replacement for HW keyboard/pads controller
Ok, thanks for an deep answer!
Logic Pro for iPad supports Split Screen (stage manager) - look here, Logic and AUM on the same screen…
cool then same should be possible with KB-1 …
