Impedence balanced vs symetrical balanced
Bought a roland rubix to output to audio4c.
Not sure I can send audio the other way, instead. Audio4c to rubix.
but see a review that theres hum and maybe because of the type of output.
Not expecting no extra hiss but dont need hum.
Ebay purchase also.
Comments
The 15th bleass voice lol.
What about the ground switch?
Is it ok to be on when going to audio4c?
Dose ground just mean at a plug.
Where as an ipad isnt ground because it uses a lightning?
I don't think I've heard of symmetrical balancing? Could you just run Audio4Cs outputs 3-4 to the Rubix INs?
Are you using 2 iPads with your Audio4C?
I bought the rubix for extra inputs.
2 ipads audio4c.
The rubix output to audio4c line in. 3rd ipad.
It could be better soundwise, for audio4c to rubix but the audio4c would have an ipad thats a central hub, I think.
but read about symetrical but theres a youtube review suggesting theres hum because of the output but might not be the case.
Will see when it arrives.
Thanks.
What do you use to reroute the audio and MIDI between the 2 iPads and the Audio4C? Auricle or iConfig? Or ReConfig on the iPad?
Thanks,
Initially a call from iconnect to sort my audio routing.
The midi routing via iconfig. Is factory made so I dont need to re-route. Its like pointing via aum matrix. Controllers just show in aum or host as a hst or din source. So any controller can route to both ipads.
reconfig appeared to be a different midi setup.
but needed reconfig because id forget how to sort audio myself.
reconfig made audio routing easier than iconnfig for some reason.
but then just used iconfigs routing for the midi, updated using reconfig.
Until Im sure how to route better. The app version obviously makes it better for learning yourself as its ios, app based.
If you need 4 stereo outputs to the other ipad. Instead of the mono outputs version. Then standard midi so the hosts then do the routing.
Can send you the pics.
Id just either make the midi connections myself, with my pic diagrams.
If reconfig is actually different to iconfig default.
Or just use iconfig to send the default midi routings to audio4c.
Then reconfig to route the audio using diagram.
Now see if theres also a save to files.
Thanks sigma.
Is it quick to use iConfig/ReConfig4Audio to switch from a monitoring mix (of both iPads), into recording mode (where monitor mixes need to be disabled)?
What's the difference between ReConfig4Audio and ReConfig?
Not sure what you mean.
but the ipad version should be better.
Are you happy with the Audio4C? I may buy one soon...
Yeah its cool.
Still probably airdrop some audio.
You can make inter-ipad busses, obviously.
Its a bit more versitile than just an audio inteface out to audio inteface in ( with airdropping )
Have one. Happy with it. Rerouting audio/MIDI sometimes a bit cumbersome but in the end does well what it has to do..
Thanks sigma. I'd like the flexiblity to create inter-iPad and inter-PC busses from iPad <> PC <> external hardware I/O, for all audio and MIDI streams.
Thanks for your input. I read somewhere that when iConfig is open, rerouting audio/MIDI in the app, the routing in the hardware automatically updates without having to push the Audio4Cs encoder? Is that only for 'burning' the current configuration into the Audio4C?
I reroute in the ipad iconfig app (don't know if that's the correct name, don't have the ipad here). There's some unintuitive things about it and I need to refresh the audio patchbay screen every time I want to change a routing.
If I remember correctly the interface not always seems to save without having pushed the encoder/volume button..
Cool thanks pruddo. Doesn't sound too bad. I always thought the old iConfig software having the same difficulty as setting up a managed Switch in the IT world. I imagine if l buy one after a year I'll have dozens of screenshots on my PC of the different routing scenarios I will use. I just would like to switch between them with little fuss and little delay.
I imagine that latency between devices with the Audio4C will be lower than using 2 separate audio+MIDI interfaces?
Think you can save settings to a computer .Then probably load a settings from a document save file. To the iconfig.
Didnt get replies so went and bought the rubix to output to audio4c.
Mainly for bleass voices now.
I can assume latency. More noise on output. Even if using brusfi on input. Then maybe hum.
The only redeemer could be multi out for bleass voices will seem better on own ipad
but would have to airdrop ( maybe multi out ) stems to another ipad anyway. To bypass noise.
Or just a bus recording. Re-open the voice ipad. If need better mix etc.
lol.
If the rubix 22 is ok. Bleass voices on own ipad. Multiout to multiout effects to a controller.
Convince me an air3 plus ipad 9, is more powerful than an air 5.
Negatives.
It might not work/be hissy.
Positive. The ipad screen wont be cluttered
but thought of another negative but might be gimmicky and would have been ok with ipad air 5.
Record voice whilst listening through bleass voices. Multi out plus multi out effects mapped to a controller.
Record audio before voices. Use Koala to make ultra pitch for dvs turntable. Airdrop to phone.
Scratch and launch my voice back through bleass voices and mapped effects chain.
Cant do this with rubix as an input.
Could obviously make it so but not setup as is and as a template. ie. Would need another template of bleass voices and fx on another ipad and not the ipad chosen for bleass voices.
But might be gimminky. It would either be looped scratches or linear arrangments but through the bleass and fx.
It would just be cuts of voice anyway etc vs my voice without a crossfader and wheel etc.
If i remake setup so its direct as described. Id lose sidechaining of ipad to ipad via usb for the other ipads and didnt want to use a daw but its just theory if I can make a song, without a daw, with inter ipad sidechaining.
Ipad air 5 would have solved this but would be a cluttered screen plus not sure if it would be better overal, than an ipad air 3 and ipad 9. I guess auv3 ram allocation may have been made better for this ipad but the air3 and ipad is 2 x chips.
Just thought Id say lol.
Just convince me.
An ipad 9 just for synths.
an air 3 for bleass voices.
Would be better than an air 5, with synths and bleass voices.
Then I wont post again.
