NanoStudio 2 has been developed by a team of 1+ people!
Xequence 2 was developed by just one person with half his brain tied behind his back just to make it fair to all the other developers. 😉
Dude is a straight up wizard genius
😂 I'll readily admit though that NS2 is definitely the bigger achievement. But maybe Matt just had one quarter of his brain tied behind his back 🤔💩
Thanks for the kind message @NoiseHorse, greatly appreciated!
Couldn’t be happier, how this great collaboration between HALion and Cubasis turned out - thanks to our great engineers!!
Glad to read that you seem to enjoy the HALion sounds too!
Have a great Christmas too
& stay well,
Lars
Hi @myapologies,
We’ve launched the new instruments with an introductory pricing offer, with discounts of 25% for Cubasis and the new instruments IAP (LoFi Piano comes free with 3.6):
HALion Sonic: 14.99€/$ (reg. 19.99€/$)
Neo FM: 9.99€/$ (reg. 13.99€/$)
FM Classics: : 9.99€/$ (reg. 13.99€/$)
Please note that prices may vary per region in the App Store. The actual prices shown in the Cubasis in-app shop are reduced accordingly.
The introductory pricing offer ends on Jan 8, 2024.
Hope that helps!
Best,
Lars
Hi @millstream,
Thanks for the kind words!
Glad to read you seem to enjoy using the new instruments!
Stay well
& warm greetings,
Lars
I'm a big fan of Cubasis and the great Cubasis development team. I totally appreciate the free update too.
But ... I simply don't understand purchasing any instrument that can only be used in a single DAW. There is simply no way I will ever do that. I don't care how good it is.
I also don't understand why anyone would develop such a plugin any more. To get more people to buy the DAW? I really don't think many people are going to switch DAWs just because they want the proprietary IAP instruments in it. All it ends up doing is limiting the potential customer base. So odd. 🤷🏼♂️
Can you imagin> @wim said:
Ok.. So how much are you willing to pay for this as Auv3? It has to be one of the greatest Instrument/s introduced to iOS… I’ll pay $40-50… and will be expecting IAP libraries..
Pretty nice stuff..
I mean I kinda get where you’re coming from but I see it more as making Cubasis one step closer towards being complete and properly competing with something like Logic for stock instruments. I’d definitely pay good money to have it as an AUV3 but I don’t see why it’s odd to both make a proprietary plugin or buy said plugin for your DAW of choice.
It makes complete sense they wouldn’t offer it as a separate standalone instrument that someone could then buy and use outside of Cubasis in one of their competitors. I’m sure there are a handful that indeed may switch. But what’s most likely is it will keep people from switching and they’ll instead buy the IAPs and keep using Cubasis. Or people that kinda use is sometimes will now be more interested and buy the new IAPs. Then realize they like cubasis and buy the other IAPs, etc etc. multiple different reasons and outcomes.
I just don’t see where this is “odd”…
Yeh, I think I’d pay that much as AUv3. I will do without if it’s chained to only one DAW though.
True, and it is incredible for what it is - but it’s half a DAW. A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, the developer promised audio tracks. He’s been unable to deliver on that, most likely because he’s a 1 man operation and just maintaining something as complex as a DAW must be a monumental pressure, never mind developing it further. I bought it because it had awesome potential that was never realised. Shame because there are some really nice touches to that DAW that nothing else has.
We've been waiting for search and tempo-track from a highly efficient team for 2-3 years now...
(I'm definitely over Cubasis and will NEVER look back).
Cheers!
I agree @HotStrange in terms of it making sense to build a proprietary plug in for convenience’s sake. Halion for iOS has two major things going for it . It sounds wonderful and for $14 sale price, it’s a steal/instabuy .
@Samu : Maybe I’m a sucker but I’m convinced by @LFS’s (Lars) latest comment on here that now that this major project is done, they’re finally gonna get around to the list of requests. If not Cubasis then are you gonna stick with Logic Pro for Mac/ios?
Yepp, Since I also use Logic on the Mac it's a perfectly 'Logical' conclusion.
(I will no longer post any replies regarding Cubasis 3 or answer any type support questions from users, sorry, buy my patience regarding Cubasis has finally run out).
I do wish the best of luck and success to Lars @LFS and his team in the future!
Take Care & Stay Safe
Hi @Samu,
Seeing you leave would not feel right, and can’t be accepted, you know that…
Your critical comments are required, and I hope to see them and you in the future too!!
While I fully understand that using Logic on macOS pairs greatly with Logic for iPad, I would be glad if you‘d stick with Cubasis too.
Warm greetings,
Lars
Long time, no see - hope you‘re well @wim!
Glad to read you appreciate the latest update!
One aspect is that the instruments are perfectly integrated into Cubasis.
Nevertheless it is fully acceptable if the new instruments are not for you.
Best
Lars
Is there a comprehensive description or reasonably full demo of what’s in the halion pack? I’d rather not spend on an unknown sample library.
@cabo and @lfs, thank you. I was looking for a complete list of iaps but think I figured it out. Happy Holidays to you
This video from Doug / The Sound Test Room has a jam with a lot of sounds. There are some other videos already out on Youtube:
I bought the library myself and I'm very pleased with the variety and the sound quality.
Hi @garden,
Did you check out all available infos and videos in this topic?
Please find full description and links to our videos in the announcement.
Plus there are links to unbiased video reviews from Doug (TheSoundTestRoom), Maarten Lanewood Studios), Luc (Nu-Trix) and Jamie on the following pages…
If you feel the need to know more, what additional info do you want to have.
Thanks
Lars
I did check out the videos, and they’re ok as far as they go but, for instance, I don’t know where I can find a complete listing. The samples I’ve seen are good, I was just looking for more complete info.
With regard to neo fm… are the 8 controls all the access we have to the engine? It seems like it’s mostly a tweak, rather than design instrument.
I feel I should make clear that none of these questions are This Is Bad! crits. Just looking to narrow things down, past the marketing.
@LFS Nice update, great work as always. Congrats to the team.
Oh really?!
First an apology that I've got absolutely nothing against You personally or the Cubasis Team.
But sometimes enough is enough and patience bucket flows over...
We've all here been pushing for pretty 'basic' features that would add to the overall user-experience of Cubasis.
One of them being a simple search when our plug-in collection grows which is not really 'rocket science' to be honest.
I'm likely in the minority by now with ~200 installed AUv3s after I did my 'app cleanup' to be able to focus (started with >700 AUv3s and I've been using the iPad for noise-making for the past 11+ years).
Others have pushed for a tempo/time-signature track (which for me personally is not that important.
Basic things like being able have a 'blank' drum-kit we can populate with our own samples, tune and reverse them.
(When the 'Classic Machines' dropped I was almost shocked that there was no way to tune the samples apart from using pitch-bend which affected the whole kit).
And I've always wondered why 'track freeze' turned a mono-track into stereo even when it was center-panned and zero effects applied. If an effect is 'stereo' the outcome would naturally be 'stereo' or with an option to do 'mono mixdown').
Also being able to use another track as the audio input for another is something that should be doable as 'track freeze' is not always a viable solution, this would have to be implemented anyway if the 'Sampler' gets improved allowing us to select either an existing track or an audio-input as the source for sampling).
Considering that I started the 'noise-making' on the Amiga sampling has always played a huge part of the way I roll...
Even when I purchased my first 'real' synth in -92 (Yamaha SY85) the first thing I asked from the Yamaha sales-rep was the file-format specification so I could import my own samples to it.
After that I bought the Yamaha SW1000XG with PLG-150AN and got in touch with one of the Yamaha-Reps (Nick H something) in the UK who handled the software ports (did some beta for the PLG-AN editor for 'classic' MacOS before it was released, also had 'beta' drivers for the SW1000XG until they were released to the public).
My personal way to do things has always had focus on sampling (thus I've been a huge supporter of BM3 and Koala Sampler) and and when LogicPro for iPad finally dropped with the QuickSampler and fast way to turn any midi or audio-region into a playable sample slice and dice it I was sold... (I was already familiar with Quick Sampler on Logic for Mac).
At this point in time I'd been indirectly pushing for bringing over the Cubase Sampler Track to Cubasis for 2+ years and it really felt like 'no one listens or even cares' so why should I waste more energy on it?
The kettle really finally blew over when the 3.6 update dropped and there was almost no other improvements than the new sound IAPs (I did download the Lo-Fi Piano).
I did try to list those CB articles that I had noticed got fixed, one of them being the updated Elstique libraries which finally fixed an issue that affected timing when doing extreme pitch-shifting (ie. +/- 24 semitones when the speed would either double or halve).
But I do understand the 'priority' for the Soundpack IAPs considering the pretty vocal android users over at the Cubasis forums as they have nothing similar to AUv3 available on their platform of choice.
When the 'word got out' that Cubasis 3.6 would be getting an 'FM Classics' IAP I might have gotten a bit over enthusiastic since my TX81Z is still one of my favorites (it still works well after all these years).
So I went down to my archives dug out 8000+ SYSEX files I'd been collecting since the mid 90s in hope that I could 'dump them in' and play.
For the DX7 we have quite a few AUv3 options already, KQ Dixie, TeraPro, DEXED which all do a pretty decent job.
For the TX81Z we only had one option for the iPad namely Yamaha's FM Essentials.app which required me to take a trip to a local music store, hunt down a MX49II and hook up a USB cable and unlock the app as there was no IAP option to unlock it.
And when the demoes started to pop-up with 'rompler style' limited editing I got pretty disappointed to be honest.
One way this could have been handled could have been to offer 'playback only' versions of say FM Classics and offer an IAP to unlock full editing capabilities. But I get it, if end-users are just happy to 'play presets' they would not generate any revenue...
I do admit that I did NOT purchase any one the new IAPs after getting more informed about what they offer.
Had this been 2 years ago when I was still in the 'insta buy everything' mode I would have likely gotten them already...
Sorry for the lengthy reply if you're still reading...
...I can easily be reached over PM for further discussion if that is of any interest.
(I promise I won't bite, I might have a hard tone at times but it's always with good intentions to move things forward).
Cheers!
/Samuel
Hi @garden
The eight quick controls show the tweakable parameters per preset and instrument.Apart from this all instruments come with a global page.> @garden said:
Hi @garden,
Thanks for your message.
The three instruments follow a similar basic concept, which are the eight quick controls that are programmed to show dedicated parameters per preset, which allows quick and easy tweaking. All the videos show pretty well what the instruments are capable of.
Hope that helps!
Best,
Lars
I think I'll go with the Halion and NeoFM which sound great in Dom's videos.
Never really liked the DX7 sounds, always sounded a bit plastic to my ears. I played a Korg M1 back in the day (which I still have, packed in a gig bag, but I don't play it anymore).
I had a DX7 when they first came out and spent years mastering it. Programmed tons of patches for it. Gigged with it. Did studio recordings with it. I was not sad to see it go.
Hello
Is it possible to use one of these in-app Synths in Logic Pro for iPad or is it just useable in the ego system of cubasis? Thank you for your feedback.
