BLEASS Tides by BLEASS (Released)

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bleass-tides/id6740145405

BLEASS Tides washes away the dry, uninspiring echoes of conventional delay processors with wave after wave of richly characterful reflections.

The plugin's fluid approach to delay processing means delay times can be altered without the unpleasant warping results produced by other delay processors, with the option of a controlled tape-like timing shift, or a simple crossfade between differentl timed delays.

Better still, with an enhanced modulation system provided by BLEASS' latest plugin technology, you can take full advantage of this delay time fluidity with stereo LFOs, envelope followers and macro controllers that allow you to explore new horizons of exciting delay effects.

There's more to creating unique and enthralling delay lines than timing alone, and so BLEASS Tides provides many different ways of shaping and adding character to its repeats.

An input filter combining low- and high-pass resonant bands allows you to easily mould the incoming signal and thereby sculpt the resulting echoes. Then, for even deeper and more exhilarating shaping, Tides' feedback path features five insert points into which any of 11 different effect processors can be loaded. These include distortions, filters, pitch and frequency shifting, ring modulation, and even an additional delay processor, all of which can be brought to life with the plugin's stereo modulators.

Tides is the first plugin to use BLEASS' v2 plur engine, its reimagined interface design giving and clean look to the plugin whilst retaining the familiar and welcoming look and feel of previous BLEASS plugins.

The new interface is as easy to use with touchscreens as it is with a mouse, and includes innovative interactive elements such as Tides' delay visualiser that, when clicked with the mouse or touched with a finger, produces fascinating interactive frequency shifting effects. Further realtime interaction comes in the form of momentary Freeze and Kill buttons that are perfect for creating spontaneous, organic effects, whether on stage, on the go, or in the studio.

BLEASS Tides' unique approach brings delay processing to new shores with never before heard stereo effects and modulations, extensive tonal shaping, and a user interface that's both easy on the eye and easy to use.

  • 👀 I quite like those slight tweaks to the UI controls, I find the current ones a bit too flat

  • I'm a Bleass completionist. I'm so happy we get a new Bleass plugin to use. :)

  • Looks fun! For those who don't want to read the article, seems like a big differentiator with this delay is that you can modulate delay time without affecting the pitch of the delayed signal. I have to admit, I don't think I have that in my arsenal right now.

  • I wish they'd fix their arpeggiator first though (continues to sound in CB3 and possibly Logic(?) after transport has stopped). This one looks fun though.

I'm with you on this. Much more pleasing to my eyes as well.

  • Looks like a very nice delay. 11 effects to choose from to insert 5 into the delay line, that sounds like fun.

I really like BLEASS effects. I think I have all of them for both iOS and in my laptop.

One thing I hope BLEASS implemented is the ability to globally choose straight, dotted, or triplet time so when modulating between delay times I can switch between 1/8 to 1/16 without having to zoom by dotted eighths and triplet eighths on the way.

But whatever it does, I'm getting it.

I am so going to get it! I hope they have a discount for those that own BLEASS Delay on Win/Mac

Edit: Now that I think about it, can it do something Infiltrator 2 can't do?

Run on iOS. 😉 Although ngl, I hope Infiltrator 2 comes to iOS. Brian Eno uses that, and Eno is one of my hugest inspos for Ambient.

I miss Kraftwerk's Kling Klang Machine. It was a fun toy.

  • So many delays on iOS.

Yeah, it looks sleek and more plasticky, but it lost Bleass's character and charm. I’m sure that this new, streamlined design will click with many more people than the old one.

  • The real question is...
...have they finally fixed their core-framework, disabled mandatory notifications for the stand-alone app and added touch & release events for AUv3 automation?!
(None of their existing plug-ins have working automation when used with for example LogicPro for iPad).

    Personally I'm 'done' with BLEASS...

They didn't remove this even after that notification server security breach happened a year ago?! I agree with you, it's disturbing. 😔 I never use Bleass apps in stand-alone mode, though.

I don’t use them much because I don’t like their slider behavior (absolute instead of relative, which some prefer so I stopped complaining) but I didn’t realize that they had these issues. How can notifications be mandatory, are they iOS notifications?

The stand-alone apps simply refuse to work if notifications for them are not enabled.
The apps check if notifications are enabled on every launch and if notifications not enabled they just show a black screen..

And yeah, I've sent them feedback on this and AUv3 automation via e-mail but I guess they practice the 'Ignorance is BLEASS' way of doing things?!

I won't waste more energy on them and vote with my wallet...

Yes I’m the same after the arpeggiator issue. Contacted them last year but still no fix. It’s borderline unusable in Cubasis.

  • I love the Bleass apps. I will get this for sure. (I only use their apps as plugin effects in AUM and Loopy, so the above notification issue doesn't affect me.)

  • This delay will be released tomorrow, right?
I have busy week, I won't even get a chance to check it out until Saturday. :(

  • I believe there’s going to a delay.

I’ll take my hat and leave now…

Worth pointing out that Fab Filter Timeless 3 can do that, when you switch from Tape to Stretch mode, on the right of the Delay knob:

"In Tape mode, the delay acts as a vintage tape echo, and changing the time will cause smooth fluctuations in pitch. In Stretch mode, time stretching is used to keep the pitch the same while changing the delay time."

Any other delays aside from Timeless 3 on iOS do that? Quantum Delay by GSDSP is one I can think of offhand (Use its ‘Fade’ mode)

    any explicit videos so far...!?
curious about spectral part and looping/feedback parts...
    thnx

  • Very good, but does anyone else find the UI very very laggy, especially after switching presets?

    Don't have it so I can't check...
...and I won't buy it just to check if AUv3 automation works with LogicPro for iPad (AUv3 automation is currently partially 'broken' in ALL BLEASS AUv3s due to lack of implementation of touch & release events which are required by the AUv3 specifications).

Does this new app even start in stand-alone mode without notifications being enabled?!
Sure its primary use-case is AUv3 but that makes it even more puzzling why they even bother with notifications?!

    Cheers!

Happily I have insomnia tonight so I'm up at 3:00am with the new Tides delay.
I'm not getting any lag here in AUM using Tides on Hammerhead and Model D.

Tides doesn't ask to allow notifications when I open it standalone. My other BLEASS apps will ask and then I click "don't allow" and the app works fine.

So far I'm really enjoying this delay. It sounds excellent, has some fun features, and the UI is a pleasure to use. I'm going to get this for my Macbook as well.
