  • I’ll wait and see, the chord detection looks good but I’m a little underwhelmed to be honest.

  • The bigger question is how much of the bugs and small glitches have been fixed or has all the focus been on 'Chord ID', 'Keyboard Session Player', 'Quick Swipe Comping' and some new sound-packs?

I mean small things like reversed audio-regions that don't even render the waveform properly, you can't do sample accurate selection of an audio-region unless you slightly 'stretch' the waveform as even 1% is enough stretch to get past the threshold of sample-accuracy for per sample rendering.

Being able to save/export an audio or midi region could be nice bonuses as well getting some improved UIs for the built-in instruments and effects...

Guess we'll know more on the 28th :sunglasses:

100% agree. Fix the bugs - and you mention only a few - before building on top of them.

Fingers crossed for AUv3 instrument multi-out fix.
I know there's a workaround but it still makes me exceedingly annoyed for some reason...

I'd also like to see some kind of 'lock automation edits to the track selected' option. I'm forever adding an automation event to a neighbouring track with a stray knuckle swipe! (Apologies if this already exists?)

Thankfully the 'fix' only needs to be done once per AUv3, after that it behaves as expected.

LogicPro for iPad needs a 'plug-in manager' because if/when a plug-in crashes too many times it gets disabled and 'disappears' and the only way to get it back is to reset Logic settings as deleting and re-installing the plug-in won't help...

Another thing that bugs me is that when I save presets for 3rd party AUv3's inside Logic they can NOT be deleted while presets for the stock plug-ins can easily be deleted. The delete button in the browser that is there for stock-plug-ins is simple not there
    for AUv3 plug-in presets.

    And there's plenty more...

My current LogicPro for iPad sub will renew on June 28 or something like that unless Apple removes the option.

If the LogicPro for iPad 3.0 update still has a shedload of bugs when released I'll very likely not review my sub and go back to the Mac and keep the iPad as a 'accessory device'...

I really want AUv3 plugin fx multi out. Medusa and mirack with multi out makes them my favorite and most used effects. The ability is kind of a staple for the sounds I like to make but I’m pretty much stuck in AUM or other groove boxes with the feature. No standard DAWs have multi-out and I’m always baffled the flagship pro DAW from Apple doesn’t have that functionality.

I do this all the time! Then can never figure out why my track's doing unexpected things, until I open the automation tab and find I've automated the mute button on the adjacent instrument or something!

what sort of fix are you talking about? @Samu

Yep does anyone really want to do automation edits on multiple tracks at the same time? I certainly can't think when I'd want to do this.

I'm sure someone will chime in that they do this all the time :D

To get multi-out AUv3 instruments to show up you have to add it, then replace it with itself! Can't remember the exact steps right now and I'm away from my iPad.

Do you mean once per song/session or once ever, per AU instrument? I'm sure I've had to repeat it. Also I'm certain that I reopened a project and the previously multi-out (Pure Acid) had changed itself to the standard stereo out version...

To get multi-out AUv3's to work reliably load the multi-out AUv3 instance (or if there's only one the stereo instance) to a track.
Close the project and Logic. Reload Logic and load the project. After it's loaded 'replace' the AUv3 and instead of stereo pick the multi-out option.

This only needs to be done once per AUv3 that provides multiple outputs and naturally also if the Logic settings are fully reset.

When a multi-out AUv3 is loaded the mixer has a + button which can be use to add the additional outputs to the mixer.

One of the reason this works is that LogicPro for iPad seems to trigger auval (AUValidation Tool) when it loads a project with AUv3 Plug-ins. Unfortunately it only scans the plug-ins used by the project...

One thing Apple could do better here is to scan the system for newly installed AUv3's when it launches and validate them.
This would save us the annoyance of loading the plug-in to a track quit logic, reload the project and replace the plug-in...

Only once per AUv3 in my experience unless the app/apps in question have updated between the launches.

All the AUv3's I currently have installed always show the multi-out option when I pick them for use.

  • Guys I have a quick question.

I have Koala FX as an Audio effect on a track in Logic Pro.. it will not record any automation. It only records the automation of the two small dials when you see the small version in the plug-in menu

Have you tried the little menu to the right to select to write (Touch or Latch) automation?
(ie. just write the automation without recording being enabled).

I don't have the Koala FX installed at the moment...

I have the same issue. Logic will not record the parameter sliders as I “play”/move them. My sad solution was to uninstall Koala FX.

  • i just wonder if the apple creative suite sub is for both ios and mac os? cuz if so it makes sense to pay a few more bucks a year since i already sub to fcp and logic pro mobile.

Koala doesn't properly report parameter changes made in the app to the host. This is a problem with Koala that exists in every host. Logic Pro can't record the movements because they aren't communicated to the host.

Reporting the problem to the developer is the best route to get this fixed.

(I reported this just now, but one report isn't as likely to be addressed as more than one.)

I figured, since this is not the only host where I have had issues. I thought it would be fixed by now given popularity of the app and the reputation of the dev, but maybe no one has reported it…

Thank you for the link. Will report it as well.

It's one of those things that developers fairly often don't get right, and not necessarily one that a lot of people would notice or take the time to report. Also, Koala is a cross-platform app and iOS is only part of their focus. This is an Apple platform specific kind of thing, and slightly niche as well.

Yes, it is. So if you have a Mac and don’t already have Logic and FCP for it, then it is arguably a good deal. If you don’t do video work and/or you already own LP and FCP on Mac, then it’s a less good deal. If you just want to use Logic on an iPad it’s a terrible deal.

It's for both, so you get iPadOS and macOS versions of FCP, Logic and Pixelmator Pro (plus enhanced versions of Pages, Numbers and Keynote) as well as macOS only versions of MainStage, Motion and Compressor. You can also use family sharing to share the subscription with up to 5 family members.

Seems like a reasonable deal if you use more than just Logic, and particularly if you don't already own Logic or FCP on macOS. If you are a student it is exceptional value... There is talk that you may not be able to subscribe to Logic or FCP for iPad individually after Creative Studio is launched - but existing subscriptions will carry on.

  • Apparently Logic Pro for iPad wasn’t such a big hit but if this creator’s studio is , then Logic Pro will be a beneficiary of the windfall and we’ll get better and more frequent updates

Reading feedback on the Store and elsewhere, seems users weren’t keen on the subscription.

Now I’m no marketing genius (I am really), but tripling the price of the subscription doesn’t seem like the best plan to bring those disgruntled users back into the fold - unless we’ve all suddenly discovered an extra 10 free hours a week to make professional looking videos, and 100gb of spare storage to save the files?

  • I'll be interesting to check out what the next LogicPro for Mac and LogicPro for iPad updates bring in addition to what is already known. I would NOT be surprised if we get a new or improved synths to accompany the new Synth Session Player...

Hopefully it's a shedload of everyday improvements and bug-fixes without adding a gazillion of new ones :sunglasses:

Fingers crossed for all the little fixes 🤞 And honestly just a more solid experience with audio editing would be amazing. Things like not being able to time-stretch and reverse clips (without bouncing) on the same track can be pretty painful for creative timeline editing in my experience.

I think that's because reverse and stretch can be done non-destructively in LogicPro for iPad using the stretch tool and reverse switch in the inspector?!

For me one of the biggest WFTs omissions is not being able to save and export audio-regions as new files...

Still waiting to see proper UIs on the stock plugins it has. Full access to Alchemy’s features, for example.
