[Solved] ThumbJam note repeat: Help a dozy d00d out?
So, running Sound Canvas/Bsi etc through TJ, instruments come through lovely, but random constant note repeating especially when moving from one to another. Fiddled with instrument controls, kicked cat, no luck. I'm sure there's a patently obvious Large Button somewhere; if you know where it is, please do a dope a favor and point it out. Grazie hombres....

So you are using TJ as the controller, sending midi to those other apps? What preset or what are the settings have you tried in TJ) that cause this repeating? Does it happen when dragging between notes, can you post an audio example of what happens?
Stellar customer service at the ole' Sonoria
Is there a way to preview loops before loading them?(Thumb)
Any chance of heavier house drum sets on DrumJam?
Thanks
Ah, I appreciate your note....
Here's a quick snippet of nylon/steel guitar from SCanvas, doing a fair impression of how my awful flamenco would be....
And here's a screen cap from TJ (I was testing Bsi, which is exactly the same problem wise), but the settings are precisely the same:
I'm sure I am simply doing something n00bishly painfully horribly and obviously wrong
I did reboot and try again etc, but had the same results with both SC and BSi....
(Air1/8.3)
Thanks for taking a look.
Definite +1 ... Drumjam loops are amazing. Any more electronic / analog drum options would be great.
S'funny isn't it? The whole world is in such a hurry to sell us (mostly welcome) sound packs of one kind or another, yet I can't help but smell the as-yet unharvested low-lying electronic/rock drum fruit whenever I open up the awesome Drumjam.....
Music is process of obsession and addiction.
One is too many a thousand is never enough.
Thumbjam retriggers notes all the time for me when using it as a controller, therefore stopping me use it, which is a shame as it's a great interface.
Holy crap! Why hasn't anyone reported this before now?! Why haven't I noticed it before, and when did it start? All of these are now rhetorical, I'm on it. I've had a bug fix update overdue for a while now.
Please, now is the time to bring out all the other bugs you thought I already knew about!
OK, narrowed it down to where the real issue is. This midi retrigger only happens when the instrument you have loaded in TJ has both "Release Stops Note" OFF and "Sample Lock" OFF in Edit->Sample. So basically, pitched percussion or harp. Just avoid using those when using TJ as a controller!
Phew, no wonder I never saw it....
@sonosaurus - there are some bugs deep in the 'create your own patches with imported wav files' functionality.
I forgot the details exactly, but when you name your sample files as per your stated naming convention it still doesn't map all of the samples to the correct notes. You have to reassign quite a few manually.
I seem to remember that also importing the files was buggy too. Something like 'open in' for the zip didn't work, but iTunes did.
Sorry for not being clearer. It was a while back.
I did eventually make my custom piano patch though (taken from a soundfont everyone was raving about on here). But it took a lot of effort
.
I love TJ though. And DJ!
My problem was caused by creating a new instrument with no samples in (so I could use it it as a controller) and not checking/knowing that the default for drag changes pitch was step. Changed that to Glide and I'm sorted.
Aha, there's another case where it always does the midi repeat thing, thanks for pointing that one out. You are better off using the Mute Instrument in Sound->Volume/iPod when you want to use TJ as a controller only.
Also note that Step and Glide mode have distinctly different behaviors (when behaving correctly)... Step will do a noteOn1-noteOff1-noteOn2 when dragging between two notes, while Glide will do noteOn1-pitchbend to get to the next note (until it reaches the end of pitch bend range, when it will do noteOff1-noteOn2).
I'm sorry to have caused you too much misplaced concern or effort. I will go follow your instructions and no doubt will have Batman down from his surfboard in no time....
Appreciate your stuff and your stuff about your stuff.
Even better. The app that just keeps giving.
The delay effect tempo sync slider is not working.
Happens to me, and pretty much stops me using Thumbjam to control other instruments, which is a shame. Sorry though, I have no idea why.
