JWM ft Anja & Malleous - Personal Str-pper (E) (Dirty Pop Song in CB3)

Content Warning - Explicit Lyrics

🫢🫣😅 ...right, so I made an explicit Pop tune with my bestie Anja in mind. She does a lot of different covers on Bandlab, is obsessed with Pitbull (which is why we figured out to call her "Mrs. Universal" and have her spit some catchphrases, but instead of Spanish, in Quebec French). I'm obsessed with Lady Gaga, and so I asked Anja if she wanted to sing an original dirty Pop song. She was in!

Then I asked Malleous if he wanted to spit 8 bars of fire in the Middle 8 before Anja's bridge, and he was in! I wrote Anja's lyrics, but Malleous did his own lyrics, and they fit very well!

The funniest part was, Anja doesn't read sheet music, so I had to sing her vocals as a guide for her to follow along with. 🤣 Took me a few takes to record that while not laughing my butt off.

Instrumentation, I used Koala as a drum module, Santa Ana for the guitar riffs, Megalit for the bouncy bass during the verses, the SX1000 for the sustained bass during the chorus, Monolit for the "Lady Gaga" lead, Poison-202 for the Supersaw pads during the chorus, Poison-202 for the ostinato during the Middle 8, and a Halion patch (I forgot which one) for the guitar solo at the end.

Mastered with Grand Finale 2 followed by Cubasis' Brickwall set to -1dB and Youlean's Loudness Meter to ensure things were at the level I wanted them.

So yeah, I plan to finish a Pop album currently titled "Pop Era" in Cubasis 3. This is the lead single. I also have another song that was a gag song I made for the gamer Discord server I was in. I'm doing preplanning for a new song about mental health and encouragement and positivity. This one will have a Dubstep chorus. You'll hear what I mean soon enough.

Anyways, cheers and enjoy this dirty Pop tune. 🥂

  • Fun track. Seem like you had even more creating it.

Thanks mate. :) I had so much fun creating this track. I've always wanted to try my hand writing a dirty Pop song, and once my friend Anja showed me the cover songs she sang, I knew she would be the perfect fit! And while I did use my "signature" autotune effect on her voice, she can actually sing, unlike me who is more of a voice actor than a singer. 😂

Of course once I wrote the lyrics, I asked Anja if she wanted to sing the song and if she was really sure. She's like "Hell yeah!" So funny story - Anja can't read sheet music but learns by ear instead. So imagine me singing these vocals to help guide Anja. 🫣😂 Lol. (I did end up keeping my backing vocals since I vocoded those, and you can't really tell it's my voice.)

The original plan after the second chorus right before the bridge was an instrumental, but then I'm like "What if Malleous spat on the middle 8 before the bridge?" Showed him the lyrics, and he wrote his own verse which fit perfectly within the song.

And yes, as explained above, all was done in Cubasis. Truly a powerhouse DAW in its own right. Ymmv of course. Cheers and have a great day, mate. :)
