NS2 - Latest iOS version compatibility check thread - v18.4 OK

I would like to offer a small service to the community.

Since Nanostudio 2 is no longer actively developed, there is a risk that at some point a future iOS update might change something that causes NS2 to stop working.

I have an iPad AIR M1 which I will no longer use for music (I gave it to my son), so I will keep NS2 on it and continue updating it with the latest public versions of iOS. I don't mind if at some point NS stops working on this device because I have another iPad where I want to keep NS2 working forever. :-)

So this old Air will serve as a 'canary' device.

After each update, I will check if NS2 is still working and let you know by posting here in this thread. This way, you will have an overview of whether it is safe to update.

My methodology is be:

  • load some project with both build in synth/fx and some VST plugins (instruments and effects)
  • check if everything was loaded correctly
  • play it for a while
  • check if everything is playing correctly

So, you guys don't need to be in stress when updating new version of iOS :-)

I will always actualize this info also on my homepage, so it is easily and quickly available without need to remember an search this thread:-)

    👍 Thank you 😊

  • Great, thanks!
I think that the last resort will always be to:
    1. Save an .ipa file of the app purchased with your Apple ID
    2. Get an older iDevice that is stuck at a lower maximum iOS version and install it on that one.

Confirmation that NS2 works as expected in iOS 18.4 on 2018 iPad Pro. (Edited)

Poseidon “*depreciated” wasn’t working and after update still not working.
Sensual Sax and Shire Whistle crashed immediately, no updates available.

What does the depreciate part mean?

Should be "deprecate" - to withdraw official support for or discourage the use of (something, such as a software product) in favor of a newer or better alternative.

let’s keep this thread in topic, it’s purpose is just to inform about latest iOS NS2 compatibility, keep it simple and clean. thanks ;)

Also not needed to thank me always when i post here :-))) I want that latest post always holds information about compatibility so nobody needs to search in history .

    Latest checked version: 18.4

  • @dendy Fair enough, but not everyone knows what's going on with Nanostudio/Blip Interactive. You might want to link to an explanation in the OP.

I thought it is enough explsined but ok added more explanation there.

  • It really puts my mind at ease knowing someone is checking NS2 after each update. I appreciate the simple and clear tests-you’re doing a great service to all of us who worry about future iOS updates.
