Alternatives to Sample Crate (rip?) - Or "What are the (current) 2025 sample organization options?"
Two days ago I finally started curating my multi year sample collection into something usable now that my learnings and yearnings have changed through this barrage of knowledge
Sample Crate has been on my wishlist for a time when I was ready (or if there's a sale. Spoiler, at $3, there wasn't lol)
And then I learned that it was pulled from the app store on May 16th (...two fking days prior...)
So I started organizing folders and plan on using Audioshare as that was the Next Best Option though a couple days of light backlog searching
Is that still/now best overall Sample cataloging option?
I'm hoping for something with a search or tagging (auto tagging would be dope) utilizing file names as search/filter terms
Thoughts? (Hopes? Dreams?)

Media Assistant has done the job perfectly for me for a while now. It has a cool auto-tagger tool as well (which I think requires a small IAP).
Ooo didn't see this one. Will be adding to my watchlist, and will check it out asap! Grabbed the freebie to see how it feels in the meantime
Thanks for the recommend! Will post findings for posterity's sake
Paging @alecsbuga - You good?
Nice, thanks. I have sample crate, but recently it has been crashing when I use the search bar. Does search work flawlessly in media assistant?
Ok, so spent time organizing all samples, grabbed Media Assistant and dropped the tenner for the Audio Tagger iap
I think this will work well, barring a couple of issues (and one minor nag)
Issue 1: app claims Batch Renaming, and shows an image of the drop-down menus having a 'batch rename' at the bottom when 2 or more files are selected
That isn't popping up at all
(Emailed this issue to developer)
Anyone else either confirm or not facing the missing Batch Rename? (I think it's in the base free app, but I did ask if that was an iap in the email)
I'll follow up with asking about this after getting a response on the Batch Renaming issues
Again, will ask about it after initial bug issue email gets a response
Any additional input in the meantime would be helpa hellful!!
Audio Tagger is VERY interesting
Resolution:
It pulls tags from both folders and file names, so, batch renaming OR proper folder structure (according to the available built-in tags*) will auto tag
Batch Renaming: Can only work in the scope of Media Assistant. So, while I have 80% properly auto tagging, I moved the Uncategorized packs into the AAHOME folder of the Media Assistant location, and booyashaka, I can batch rename! Will move em back to my main samples folder when done!!
Sent message about this as well, now
AND FINALLY I'm facing regular crashes while sample auditioning in Audio Tagger. It has been while jumping around trying to troubleshoot the batch tagging/renaming and just testing random things to see what options pop up, but I'll keep an eye on it when I get standard use going (rather than the setup, changing things, rework setup, etc loop I'm in now)
*I havent found what terms it auto tags, but I've emailed asking
Media assistant is a powerful app, just double check you purchase the correct IAPs for your needs. That’s just a general thought…
If you don't mind me asking, what are the costs of the IAP's?
Check the appstore, from what I remember they're pricey and you'd spent a lot buying them all
Yea there’s like 6-7 of them and each is a different price to unlock different features.
