  • I saw an image on FB, this was a better representation. Seems like a pretty cool idea/s.

  • @Gavinski Have you had the pleasure of testing this yet ?

    No, have you?

No just seen this video and a FB post.

  • I wonder if the dev posted the video as his other U Tube vids cover trackers and modular gear.

  • Maybe we will get to see more of its features before release…

  • This one’s got me stumped !

  • There’s meant to be a walk through video but I can’t find it ? anyone ?

  • Has anyone found the way to open the “ manage captured notes” screen as seen in the YouTube video?

  • has anyone found how to open the “manage captured notes” screen seen on the walkthrough youtube video?

I think the version in the demo walk thru and the testflight version are different. Testflight version is missing a few interface elements that are shown in the demo walk thru.

  • thanks. a new update has been posted with two new icons but not the note manager. probably coming later.

  • What will likely be final version is on TestFlight, and a complete walkthrough here - I really like it

What is it you like about this app? How are you using it? I can’t make heads or tails of it. I get it, in the video he says to be patient, but I just had this thing running for 3 minutes and not a single note haha

You have to record (edit: btn in uppr rght crnr) something into it like some generator maybe or you play notes your self. I used Zoa and one of the presets it ships with (i.e Zoa) let it record one lap and the removed Zoa. Hope that make sense. (hey squish, it's very quick, 5 seconds tops, to remove the link to the video or image so it doesn't repeat time after time after time - totally up to you, just saying 😃)

Still learning the ins and outs, cheers! And about that video: dev doesn’t run anything through it, but it still produces notes. You’d think an additional source would be mentioned if required? Still bewildered, but I’ll give your method a whirl!

  • Hi all. MIDILODY Dev here. Sorry if the app is not clear enough. But that's great to get your feedback so thank you!

There is a user manual though on the WIP web site. I'm sorry it has not yet been updated for build 9 (I'm a one man team so I run from task to task.)

But just to clarify things a bit, MIDILODY is a MIDI generator. It will create MIDI notes for you when you start transport in your AUv3 host (play button top left in AUM) and send them to whatever audio plugin you link it to. In my videos I often link MIDILODY to King of FM for instance.

Of course it comes with a complete UI to customize the process.

Since it's a generative engine, sometimes it's slow to start. I am currently working on it.

However, what's not clear, I realize, is that it is possible to start a new generation manually by just resetting the sequence: RECORD + tap on the Hexmatrix Engine (the big bubble at the center of the screen.) The hexmatrix will then do its job on brand new values. Regarding the engine itself, everything is explained in the user manual.

Also you can modify the sequence at hand when you are in PLAY MODE (hit RECORD to deactivate recording). Then just tap on individual notes to remove them. Notes are represented by the colored LEDS.

Another thing to understand is that MIDILODY is a looper that will play all the notes in your sequence within the number of bars you selected in your config (1, 2 by default or 4 bars).

Also notes are added in your sequence at their very own timing in the loop. Meaning you could have new notes added in the middle of the sequence.

Don't hesitate to leave your feedbacks there or directly in TestFlight (easier for me to refine there, but np).

    I hope this will help.
    Thanks everybody!

Note: I won't be able to answer for a few days but I will come back to the forum next week so don't hesitate to leave any comments in this thread.

Honestly, I haven't checked any videos. Not even the one above. I just started to mess and followed the very small text inside the app. Not sure I'm going for it so that is my excuse for being sloppy. Let me know if I should show you with a quick (and dirty) video?

Edit: dev came in while I wrote, so there's your explanation 😂

    “ Since it's a generative engine, sometimes it's slow to start “.

I actually find this bit to be charming. It’s like starting a tractor with a shotgun shell. Give it a minute to fart out its last meal kinda thing.

It has unique sequences. Very nice twilight zone sounding range of notes- I’m all about midi sequencers, have most of them. This is interesting.

Yes, I guess that could happen - I’ve never had to wait that long though! It builds a loop with a gradually increasing number of notes over time, adding notes when the engine ‘finds’ them, rather than in any fixed order. Think of hex engine like a random generator. You can delete notes it finds that you don’t like while keeping the rest of the sequence. Once you get to a pre-defined note limit (2-32), you can either have it stop, or keep adding new notes and removing old ones. It’s much more complicated to explain than it is when it clicks. I’ve been running it through Waymaker as well which is really cool.

  • Yeah, feeding a midi out to its input, make sure the red recording button is pressed and it should automatically begin parsing thru its backend. If I understand, every time you tap it clears the sequence- so just be patient and it should start doing very random stuff. Not very melodic, but u can delete what you don’t like via led tap. It’s a unique lil fella for sure

  • Haha I think watching that tutorial vid was my problem, which is odd… maybe dev should have YOU GUYS write the manual! Thanks all, will giver another go tonight
