I probably have more apps than a human needs to completely obliterate a sound, the market is pretty saturated with lofi stuff. But beautiful GUI, and if you are a fresh starter it looks interesting, not too bad on the price either.
Well said! Already have Artifacts by Kai so this isn’t really needed, but would have jumped all over it if new to the scene.
I have a handful of AUv3s that can do the job, including Lo-Fi-Af. But for six quid, this doesn't seem all that bad to be fair. 🤷♂️ Just my opinion.

Splitting hairs gents, splitting hairs. Who in their right mind can listen to something lo-fi and hear a difference between the items in the list. I'm sure some exist but do you have them in your audience or is it just for personal nostalgia?
That's kind of going against the whole ethos of the app I reckon tho. The point of it is to just be able to quickly dial in something you like by ear. I agree with your earlier comment, however, that the lofi app niche is pretty damn saturated (no pun intended lol) already

The IR scene could help you out with that. Tons of impulse response captures taken from a lot of the machines in the list above. Jamp has a free IR loader you can use to fiddle around with this stuff, but fair warning: it’s a bit of a rabbit hole haha

Having more options is not a bad thing, especially if the point of the app is to emulate "authentic cassette, VHS, vinyl, and vintage digital modes", no?
Plus, it might be a nice way for Kai Aras to extend its life and value. After all, this is a $5.99 app... Could be a nice launchpad for additional tape recording emulations.

https://pasttofuturereverbs.gumroad.com/ has a lot of these old devices as IRs and listening to them in the demos show they add an interesting veil. Of course no living soul would know which is what, but it often that very subtle differences makes the flavor.
I have a real R8 still. All the old Ampex tape has shed worse than our long haired cat though.
I’m not sure if reels of tape are still available for it — and if they are if they’re probably way out of calibration (as would be the machine). Would make for some interesting textures for sure.
I couldn’t give it away back when the DAW took over. I couldn’t wait to get away from it either.
Can’t say I’m nostalgic for the sound of it. I should see if it still works and sell it to somebody that would enjoy it.

It looks like lo-fi af will be yet another versatile but complex thing in this toolset and won’t bring too much to the table. But maybe I don’t know something
And what’s about latency in Mr Lofi? Does it suit only for production or can be used during playing?
Used to love KAI apps but this fx is lazy executed. It costs nothing but it adds nothing. Maybe with more degradation controls, different kind of emulations but as it is now is nothing more then a toy.
