Gawd, I'm itching for this!
Intua... making an announcement that there will be an announcement. I'm as excited as the rest of you... and glad they said something. but this is kind of funny.
Totes. Plus, let's keep in mind Intua said they'll have an announcement in September, not an app!
Oops, missed this on page two before posting basically the same. To be fair, they didn't "announce" this per se—it was just a reply to a question on Facebook.
....other than RAM and CPU. If it's anything like the last one I wouldn't want to be on less than latest and greatest. Especially when running larger projects.
That's right. And i wouldn't be so excited about it if i had to use it on an older devices. And what Audiojunkie said...no cubasis or Auria on iPhone, that's a very good point of course.I'm glad that i have an Air 2 and if only for Auria...
in a weird way I'm starting to not care about beat maker 3 anymore, you know when it comes to a beat machine the workflow is what it's all about and the new playground app is really where the next level of workflow is imho...
so now I'm already feeling that the fact that bm3 probably won't have this kind of workflow is a bummer
What is this playground app that you speak of?
i just think that this is the natural progression for beat machines on iOS,
I'll definitely be looking for any leanings this way by intua
Playground looks amazing but I see no use in it. I don't want to play other peoples songs (well maybe for a bit of fun, but not for productions).
Until it supports sample import it isn't really that exciting. I also am a bit skeptical that it will. Those templates seem like they were prigrammed with complex interactions with the demo tracks in mind.
If they can pull off sample import with the same level of custom UI it will be fricken amazing
Woa. Ok, they've got my attention.
I totally agree MirEko, that's why I'm hoping that the community will build a consensus to get behind requesting sample import from them. Go to there Facebook page and let them know how important it is. They seem to have their mindsets a little stuck on the templates but I'm sure that most people don't care about the templates right now, just give them import right into those slots and sort out the rest as in custom templates on update if need be.
They are aware that a couple of people would like sample import but I haven't seen much more support for it.
this is some next level workflow shit, they are leaping ahead over everybody else into the Samplr territory of greatness here and they need to hear it and understand how many people would go for this. They've said that they are targeting the mass market and trying to get novices into music making etc... , that same thing that cold cut said about ninja jamm and I think that is a wonderful thing but this is starting to become an all to common line in the apps that have the most potential.... it's the same thing said by the auxy dev...... meanwhile I'm pulling out my hair trying to figure out why the most promising apps have to go this route..... we could have had an ableton live like app a long time ago if it wasn't for his kind of stuff.
now not unlike syrupcore I'm the type that feels like an dev should do what they want and follow their vision but oh my god please will somebody please throw us a bone here........pretty please. if you added a sample slicer, step sequencer, and sample import to this app I'd pay $60 for it, add custom templates and I'd pay $65. please let the dev know how you feel https://www.facebook.com/getplayground
anyways I'm not trying to hi-jack the bm3 thread my point is that I want intua to know that all of the current workflow paradigms are already obsolete, this is where it's headed and hopefully they can help take it there!
this video of drum jam reminded me that really they are the ones who pioneered this direction I think,

@kobamoto Is that a new workflow or a new playing interface/instrument?
When I think of workflow, I think of all of the other stuff around the main musical interface, if that makes sense. Sample import, file management, recording and/or arranging bits...
I think you can do most of the stuff in the video with Beatsurfing and your favorite sample player (though some stuff seems like it might need some scripting—haven't opened BeatSurfing in a while). You just have to be willing to commit the time towards setting it up and pointing at a sequencing/recording app that has most of the rest of what you want.
Per usual, I could be totally wrong here but I get the impression that this is a sort of purpose built implementation of BeatSurfing with samples loaded. Like the dev said, it's pointed at people with needs/wants unlike ours.
yep absolutely correct, it's just sad that we keep getting these apps made for getting people into music that have 99 percent of the things people already into music have been dreaming about for years... I don't know how sample import could negate the interest of the crowd they're targeting as they wouldn't have to use it if they didn't want to , just load a preset as usual and go. beat surfing is cool, but not self contained and playground has more features than beat surfing.... how's that for target marketing.... the pro app is the one with the less features, and the lets get some people into music version has the xy pads and some other cool stuff.
