midi transpose app
Hello,
I have a midi keyboard (arturia keystep) that doesn't have a transpose control. What iOS app can do this in an easy and user friendly way? My skills on the keyboard is very basic so the fastest way for me to learn a new song or just improvise is too always play the C major scale (the white keys) but I want to be able to play in any key. Thank you

If you use a host like AudioBus, StreamByter is an Audio Unit MIDI effect that can do this. Easy, but not necessarily user-friendly. You could arrange a knob on your controller to adjust the transpose interval. There may already be a module fo this in the StreamByter user forum.
Rozeta scaler. Once you connect midi keyboard to iPad run through Rozeta Scaler first before a synth. It allows +24 to -24 semitone transposition.
You can also select any key on Rozeta Scaler and all notes will be filtered to the key you choose.
Easy, Drambo. There is a dedicated midi transpose module. Pitch range is +/- 12 semitones, but you can put 2 or 3 in series for 24, 36 semitones etc.
Play C major on the white keys, then turn the 'amount' knob to 2, and you will be playing in D major. Turn 'amount' to 4 and you will be playing in E major, etc.
Midi Tools > Midi Key Zone
also has a transpose function with up to +/- 127 semitones.
You can define up to 8 zones with different transpositions.
Thank you all. I think Rozeta might be an easy and user friendly option.
Also Mozaic has a couple scripts that could help. But like you said Rozeta scaler is probably the easiest, most user friendly solution.
I thought midi tools might work here but wasn’t sure. Thanks for confirming that.
👍🏼 It lacks a couple of important MIDI utilities but for transposing and routing, it delivers.
I just remembered that AUM has transpose functionality built right into it. If you’re using the keystep, just route it to your desired plugin and select transpose amount on the instrument channel. Perhaps the easiest solution if you’re using AUM.
@aleyas perfect! there's so many great "hidden" features in aum.
Maybe we can get the developer to implement custom-scales.. this is such an essential app.. just one more step to perfection..
