Primary Design • WoodPecker – Probability-driven modular sequencer with MIDI 2.0 features. • Quantum – Multi-track, analog-style step sequencer modeled on classic hardware, with deep modulation and automation logic. Track / Sequencer Count • WoodPecker – 4 independent sequencers. • Quantum – 6 main sequencers, expandable to 24 (each sequence can have 4 parts: A–D). Steps per Sequence • WoodPecker – 64 steps, each with up to 4 variations (total 256 possible). • Quantum – 64 steps per sequence, and each sequence or part can use any subset of those steps. Step Resolution / Timing • WoodPecker – Per-step delta-time factor (0.5× to 2×). • Quantum – Per-sequence tempo division and per-step gate length from 0 % to 400 %. Loop & Direction Modes • WoodPecker – Forward, reverse, random, skip, and probability-based modes; can resync after a chosen number of bars. • Quantum – Multiple loop types defining playback order and jump patterns.  Common loop modes:  – FWD : steps play start → end → start again.  – REV : steps play end → start → end again.  – FWD/REV : ping-pong style alternation.  – Random : choose random step order (via step skips).  – F3B2 : “forward 3, back 2,” skipping and reversing for pattern variation.  – F2B1, F4B3, etc. – shorthand for other forward/back skip combinations.  – Custom per-step jump modes: each step can be marked to jump to another step.  – Per-step skip flags to shorten sequences dynamically. Variations / Parts • WoodPecker – 4 variations per sequencer. • Quantum – Up to 4 parts per sequence, each with its own tempo division, transpose, and range. Per-Step Controls • WoodPecker – Note, velocity, probability, ratcheting, delta-time, mute/skip, humanize. • Quantum – Note, velocity, gate %, MIDI channel, swing %, probability %, humanise %, mute, 16 assignable CC/NRPN lanes, ratcheting, repeats, and step-level chord options. Randomization / Probability • WoodPecker – Step probability, random note and velocity range, and a scale-limit option. • Quantum – Per-step probability and humanize parameters; “Randomise Notes” can also be triggered automatically as a loop action. Scale & Key Handling • WoodPecker – Built-in or user-defined scales; random notes can be limited to the selected scale. • Quantum – Complete key and scale system with custom semitone mapping; user can remap any of the 12 semitones, set enharmonic spelling, and build custom scales beyond Major/Minor. Transposition System • WoodPecker – Global or per-sequencer transpose; can resync or restart sequences after transpose. • Quantum – Hierarchical transpose system including:  1. Linked faders for manual shift.  2. Per-sequence or per-part transposition (-24 to +24 semitones).  3. Global song transpose affecting all sequences.  4. Value-only “transpose sequences” that output offsets to other sequences.  5. Loop Follow Actions that can apply transpositions automatically. Tempo & Sync • WoodPecker – Internal 10–1000 BPM, tap tempo, DAW or MIDI clock sync. • Quantum – Internal clock, Ableton Link, Audiobus 3 MIDI, MIDI Clock, or Note-In driven step advance. Start / Trigger Options • WoodPecker – Manual start, DAW transport, Note On trigger, MIDI RT start/stop, or audio input trigger. • Quantum – Manual or external start via Ableton Link, MIDI Clock, or Note In (keyboard notes can drive step advance). Ratcheting / Ornamentation • WoodPecker – Step ratcheting with adjustable timing and probability. • Quantum – Ratcheting and ornamentation per step, multiple repeats and rhythmic subdivisions, stored in the step options. MIDI CC Automation • WoodPecker – Per-step CC assignment. • Quantum – Up to 16 user-definable CC/NRPN slots per sequence (7- or 14-bit precision). MIDI 2.0 Support • WoodPecker – Full MIDI 2.0: 16-bit velocity, 32-bit CC, per-note pitch, MIDI Group addressing. • Quantum – MIDI 1.0 only (CoreMIDI). Global MIDI Routing • WoodPecker – Global output and per-sequencer channel routing; Bluetooth MIDI supported. • Quantum – Each sequence can target any CoreMIDI device or virtual port with independent channels. Synchronization • WoodPecker – Internal or external DAW/MIDI clock. • Quantum – Ableton Link, Audiobus 3, MIDI Clock, Bluetooth, or Virtual Ports. Follow / Automation System (Quantum Only) Quantum includes a complete Loop Follow Actions system that executes when a sequence or part completes its loop. Actions are organized into four categories: 1. Logic Flow & Counting • Restart Actions – resets the list and starts again. • Loop x more times – repeats a loop a specified number of extra cycles before proceeding. • Wait x loops and y steps – introduces controlled delays before the next action. 2. Sequence or Part Parameter Changes • Transpose to value x (absolute). • Transpose +⁄– x (relative). • Change Tempo Division. • Change Loop Type. • Change Start Step. • Change End Step. • Mute / Unmute Sequence or Part. • Mute / Unmute specific Step. • Randomise Notes. • Change Key Scale. • Change MIDI Channel override. 3. Playback Actions • Stop sequence or part. • Start specific Sequence or Part. • Start relative Sequence (+1, –1). • Start random Sequence. • Start random Sequence excluding current. • Start Part in current Sequence. • Start relative Part (+1, –1). 4. Big Data Changes • Load Version (switch to another saved state). • Load Relative Version (+1, –1). Each action can have its own probability percentage, so execution is non-deterministic if desired. Action lists are stored per part, can be copied between parts, and can trigger each other for complex performance logic. UI Design • WoodPecker – Modular grid with parameter randomization and per-step visualization. • Quantum – 16 vertical faders per page, color-coded selections, and multi-page sub-panels for actions, transposition, parts, and MIDI. Step Mute / Skip • WoodPecker – Per-step mute or skip buttons affecting loop timing. • Quantum – Mute and skip buttons added in v1.6; skips can shorten sequences dynamically. Humanization • WoodPecker – Per-step humanize probability. • Quantum – Humanise % controlling random timing and velocity variation.
