Drum app, closest we can get to ez drummer right now?

I bought the pro midi sequencer earlier this week and finally had a chance to use it last night. First I used bs16i to see how it worked, just using the gm soundfont and it worked really well. Then I got the bright idea of using it with the drum kits in drumjam, can't believe I didn't think of this a long time ago. Awesome! Altering some of the velocities on snares and hats brought out the multi samples and it sounds great. So, next I need to figure out how to file all of the groove monkee and odd groove midi clips so I can use them in pro midi. It will be fairly close to ez drummer.

@sonosaurus are there any plans for more drum kits in drum jam? I was really digging that.

  • @mrufino1 - just curious, how would you compare your Pro Midi approach to using Bilbao in Gadget to sequence your samples of choice? I find I have an astounding amount of control sequencing a customer drum kit in Bilbao.

  • Drumjam uses multi samples, that's the main difference. I have a lot of midi drum clips as well, I have to see how I can effectively organize them for this.

Ah, gotcha. Big difference compared to just varying velocity on the same samples ...

  • There will be more drum kits, I've convinced Pete to sample his current touring kit, which as you'd expect is not completely traditional but should be pretty cool.

That's great! All I want now is an industrial kit with some really obscure metal hits

Cool, I look forward to it. Drumjam is such a cool app.

Agree, DrumJam and Thumbjam are two of the best reasons to own an iPad imho

  • Agreed all round and not the least of which with new Pete kits...

  • Here is a video of his kit setup:

@sonosaurus Very nice! Looking forward to playing with this kit :)

  • Wow, that's very cool! I haven't seen him play, really liked it.

I am so glad that you posted that for us to see! I had not heard him play previously either but am so glad that I did. It is not often I get this excited about seeing new talent, well, new to me at least, but I liked that a lot! Someone on Korg forums once introduced me to Hiromi Uehara and the moments are similar as far as being impressed. I shall have to go look further for more videos. Fun with Drumjam shall be in order as a way of celebrating. I love days like this, thanks again for sharing.
