BeatTwirl vs. Twisted Wave vs. Egoist
I've been slicing samples with TwistedWave... in my mind the best swiss army knife for this task.
I'm hesitant to download BeatTwirl, and I've heard people claim that Egoist can be used as a replacement for Propellorhead Recycle.
I watched the youtube videos for egoist. I'm not sure I make the connection. Can I actually do some of the things I can do in BeatTwirl...
...in Egoist?
Is this just a glaring hole in the iOS apps category?

Egoist is a self contained groove box, I don t have twisted waves or beattwirl to compare, but I'm pretty sure it s not the same at all ... no way to export separated slices... it s more a sample mangler sequencer
very fun buy the way
ps for slicing I use audioshare BPM snap
Beat Twirl would be a great tool if it weren't prone to crashing all the time. It's useless.
And yes, egoist is great fun, and not abandonware-!
You can export patterns or songs from Egoist and export them to AudioShare where you can slice them up based on bpm.
Thanks everyone. I really think there is an opportunity for a next gen beat twirl type app.
Agreed. There's no wav manipulation I haven't been able to achieve in Twisted Wave, for my rather modest wav manipulation needs.
It's seems like a slow-burner (as far as folks getting on it), but def. not something I would now like to find myself without.
Cool, I hope they fix exporting then.
TwistedWave wins hands down as an audio editor. BeatTwirl I found was very pop and clicky at the cuts, no fade in/out option which made the sounds unusable. And I'm not sure if Egoist exports it's slices.. Bottom line is there are no slicer apps quite as good as Recycle yet !
@johnfromberkeley TwistedWave is a nearly perfect editor (as you know) and Egoist is just amazing fun for slicing And sequencing (but not purely slicing to export). Personally I find the whole Egoist microcosm to be Very friendly and Very conducive to wonderful results - can't recommend it enough.
Beattwirl isn't perfect for sure, but as far as I know it's the only game in its particular town.
