MIDI-learn BPM tap + delay units?
Hello again!
Well, the topic name basically lays it out - After a long trainwreck of an attempt at more complicated stuff, I'm slimming down the scope of what my iPad's gonna do on stage. My goal is to be able to tap tempo into a midi controller, which in turn will allow me to have delays synchronized, for use with a live band. And I really need two separate channels, or two separate delay units that can do the job. All the apps I've tried so far have issues, or lack the features. It's rather strange to me, because I find no shortage of "creative fx" units, but their gimmicks get in the way of the rather direct task at hand.
Can anyone suggest a few apps, or even better, an overall software setup that would do the job? MIDI-learn tempo tap + multiple delays, able to synchronize.
Thanks!

Most of them do. I know for sure that Kymatica's AUFX:Dub will.
Vryn syn tap delay brah
spelled wrong of course I need to find how to turn off auto correct
I bought Virsyn tap delay earlier today - It does not appear to be able to bind the tempo tap to an external MIDI controller. So that's another dud for me. It does, however, accept MIDI sync, so maybe it'll be useful later, when I figure out how to do midi sync. Don't know anything about that subject, never tried before.
Also, when I tried tapping the tempo on the iPad screen(which wont be happening on stage anyways....), it had really weird behavior. Couldn't hit a target BPM through taps. Rather worrying.
I'll try AUFX:Dub next.
Thank you very much for the input guys!! I would love to hear more input regarding delays, external midi tempo tap, or maybe a bit about midi sync. Or whatever system you guys use to get tempo synchronized BPM, when the tempo changes throughout the set.
DrumJam will accept a midi CC for tap tempo and produce a master clock output that is free running (transport need not be playing). You'll have to use another app for the delay (as long as it has midi clock input), and you may not need the other features of DrumJam, but at least it is one solution.
Excellent! I might do precisely that, if I don't find other options. Thank you.
weak. im sorry bro still a sick app at least
Thanks, hadn't realised this, could solve a problem I had with reaper waiting for midi clock, then it had to sync, missing the first few beats.
Loopy will do the MIDI tap->Tempo thing but I think its clock needs to be running for other apps to notice. Not sure.
When I try to select a highlighted control in midi learn mode, tap delay crashes every time. I sent email to virsyn.
Hello @MOK, Also have a look at Quantiloop Pro: it has midi-learnable Tap Tempo and it's a AU- and IAA-host for max. 3 input-effects and max. 3 output-effects (per track); and a great looper also (but you do'nt have to use that...)!
Correct, transport must be running in Loopy. Good to know DJ sends clock without transport running...
