The reviews that say it is not properly tuned are scaring me off

You can tune it at the back of the app

Nearly spent my app budget for this month. At the moment it stands at Combo Organ and Super Manetron or Notion.

Notion. Think of your dotage man....

  • Just don't wanna make a misstave......doh....

  • As ideas for future development, built in chorus and phaser would be great, and maybe look at the polysynth section from an ARP Omni. This would add some versatility, while keeping it authentic.

  • Wow. They nailed this. Would like to have the mod and reverb sliders on the main page (on iPhone anyway, haven't tried it on iPad.

Why don't devs let you choose MIDI channel?

Indeed. I didn't even see a way to set the port. Just wanted to connect to Bluetooth. Again, on iPhone anyway. Maybe it needs a core MIDI device hooked up, dunno.

  • Doesn't appear to support virtual MIDI at all. A bummer because we can't use something like MIDI Flow to fix it lack of channel selector.

Sounds amazing ("look, ma! I'm in Tubeway Army!) but I probably won't wind up loading it much.

It does support virtual midi. Just to test it I ran it alongside 2 other instruments in MTS and it worked perfectly.

That's good news. You were triggering it with MIDI notes from MTS? Maybe it's an iPhone only problem? Moe maybe I should restart or something.

That's right. Either playing them or with the sequencer. No issues.

  • Alina responds to standard MIDI cc's. Tried it with midiLFOs. Looks like it's stuck in Omni mode however.

  • Cool. Anyone else get virtual MIDI to work on the iPhone?

    Can you share the CCs?

  • @syrupcore

I just tried a few off the top of my head: 7, 10, 71 and 74 (volume, pan, resonance and cutoff)

    http://www.midi.org/techspecs/midimessages.php

  • Okay, I had to bite, and it's an interesting mess. The first thing I tried was to find a way to use it with my EWI which uses aftertouch extensively, and it just worked right out of the box without any setup. Wow, I wasn't expecting that.
Sure it sounds good, but it seems they made it not knowing anything about how most apps approach midi and inter-connectivity. There's a drop down "wood grained" bar that has nothing on it???

  • Yes it's like real synths.....odd and quirky.

Actually, that's how I feel too, but since it isn't a real synth it shouldn't be... as quirky. It reminds me of the Roland Organ-Strings 09 I had back in 1987, only better, and those stupid colored buttons won't stop working after a few years of use.

  • @Martygras

Along with my other favs of the week....Manetron2, Jeuxdorg Mini and World Scales.

  • The Alina Strings is good for getting a '70s vibe. :)
Here's a quick jam track in the style of Ashra (Manuel Gottsching) Guitar improv over the Alina Strings and some Thor Synths.

  • Can you change MIDI channel on it yet?

Or does it pick up app MIDI still?

  • Same as before, I'm afraid.

  • David Bowie's Sound & Vision
