Whats about audio-units?
I'm just wondering, why there is so few discussing about the audio-units, which have been introduced with iOS 9. Sure - it's brand new but there was a beta-phase but currently it seems, none of the devs is hugely interested in it. Wouldn't AU's solve the biggest problems with multi-app music-creation: missing reliable total recall and missing instances?
Comments
I have one AU already
Remaster updated:
Adeed Audio Unit Extension: you can now use our equalizer in others apps that host audio units. This is a new IOS9 feature only and you need a host that hosts audio units. Select Remaster in the list of available audio units.
Thanks for the information, I do have a couple of questions though, what host are you using and does it allow multiple instances?
Exact what i want to know too.....especially multiple instances are important!
I think there're not any host at the moment for this AU. We need more updates. Will be happy to run this Au inside GB, Auria or Gadget.
Thanks, if this allows multiple instances then that's big news for all who use iOS devices to create music.
So which DAW will be first to get this, do we think?
Audiobus does recall its settings well, and no multiple instances of the same thing like this. It's audio units something on iOS and different au something something on OS X ...
I think we should see an update to GarageBand anytime now
But none of the apps i'm using supports state saving...
Don't buy the rubbish apps
Looking forward to it.
This will be a great benefit to all the DAWs I reckon. Would be good to get it in the modular style apps too.
Since AU is Apples baby, yes I think a good bet is GB.
You mean things like Auria,Cubasis, the Korg stuff,,the Arturia stuff, the Virsyn stuff,Sugar Bytes (looking at Turnado and Effectrix),Thor,Patterning,Elastic Drums,Animoog,FM4,Nave,StepPolyArp...you are probably right,i REALLY should avoid all this rubbish
Lol.
Wonder when Alchemy Mobile will make it's re-debut?
I want all of them to come to the AU side hehe
Me either
Would you mind to share a little more infos? So,you can use multiple instances and they can be saved within a project, right?
Are there limitations compared to the normal version?Stripped down features or Interface?
As far as I've understood the thing, AU would allow an app to host other apps. This would include that the host app saves the state of all it's "clients" and allows for multiple instances of the same client. This goes definitely far beyond of what we have now. Audiobus state-saving works well within its degrees of freedom but this degrees are limited. Sometimes I have to start apps in a curtain order and always I have to start each app separately in order to get to my last state. Total recall is a different thing, imo.
Audio Units would allow for a workflow, like one expect it from a desktop-system, thats drastically different to the current state of interapp-audio. I highly hope, it will get fast adopted by the devs.
If implemented host control would have advantages over the nightmare of midi control as used on iOS at the moment, but AU devices that use midi solely have been problematic on the desktop.
It would be nice if Audiobus would go ahead being an AU-host. This would probably boost the adoption-process.
If the AU standard does allow multiple instances, that would certainly allow some complex AB chains.
The UI is going to be simple with the AU. I expect to be out the host to program a synth at full screen for example but who knows
Rim mentioned this morning that they will wait with AU until it becomes more documented and gains a little more tracktion before they include it in auria.
I don't mind in this case.I own a lot of the brilliant IAPs and soon we'll have an awesome synth and multiformat sampler as well.
I often use Auria as a host to play my iOS synths through the great effect plugins.
Any developer know something more? I even saw some confusing answers in a developer forum where there was no def. yes or no about multiple instances with iOS AU in hosts which support it. They where talking about ram limitations as well..... of course my english sucks to much to understand all the tech stuff..........
Why is it so damn hard to bother apple to get a simple yes or no?!
Also it seems that it's all build on AudioUnits version 3 which is OSX and iOS. Does that mean it would be now easy to port these AU across OSX and iOS or vice versa? I know... many stupid questions. Just hard to think that no developer can answer it. Mystic iOS it is
The AU are the most interesting thing about all the new iOS hardware and software.
Maybe you should start buying apps according to your needs
I don't think it's ready for prime-time yet. Rim says he's waiting for more documentation, which implies that Apple haven't really finished it yet, since the developers know bugger all about it, and until they do not much is going to happen.
That means no AU in Auria Pro..... uh.... shame. But of course better before it's going to be a new bugfest
You can't implement something that isn't documented. The ball is in Apple's court, they announced the technology but they haven't yet done the groundwork to allow developers to use it.
Remaster got an update yesterday adding audio unit extension support but there are no hosts yet. Hopefully GarageBand soon will get an update.
