  • I think you could be correct. Apple may release Logic Pro X for it, but maybe a smaller version for it. Maybe the desktop GarageBand also? But it maybe for iPad Pro Only? Probably because of the higher CPU, & 4 gb Ram. So you would have to but the 128 gab version.

  • I predict, that I couldn't possibly afford an ipad pro. So...... Here's to hoping the standard ipad gets some lovin too.

  • Cannot Garageband files be opened by Logic Pro X on the desktop? In that case, I see Apple just making a new version of GarageBand for iOS instead of porting Logic Pro to iOS. A new GarageBand could accept AUs from other apps; but I don't see Apple reformatting AUs from Logic to be used in iOS. I could be wrong.

I just want more of the creative touch apps that use the surface well. I don't want what the computer world has, I want the iPad to be the best live instrument to play.

    As for predictions.....not a clue....surprise me!

  • I don't think there will be Logic for ipad in the near future. Logic X requires a lot of gigs and CPU power, much more than Logic Pro can handle and Logic X is one way apple gets laptop/desktop sales. They won't cannibalize those sales with a cheaper option. I predict more of the same for a couple of years. Cheap au's are not good business for app makers either. Cut down versions maybe.

  • Ok rethink. I think they will expand the iOS version of GarageBand and include a cut down player of Alchemy.

  • Maybe Alchemy for iOS will be in the AU format from Apple. Then we could use it with other apps in the future.

  • We have had enough decent pro apps for at least three years to enable full production from start to finish, since ios6 actually

If one uses the devices and apps sensibly, I cannot see the desperation for a coffee table tablet to be honest

Gadget, Auria, cubasis, Thor, Magellan, aufx apps, audiobus, Interapp audio, nave, final touch, audio mastering, a whole host of drum and synth apps, eq and compression apps, large amounts of other apps..

We have enough already, yes more are welcome but I sense some are not yet satisfied

We must remember that the apps are unique in the sense that they accomplish so much at a much lesser storage space footprint, what to speak of budget

There is no use getting hopes up of a bigger GB, or logic, since ios7 and iPad Air 1 and iPad mini retina, there is no doubt in my mind that the devices can handle a logic..
    P

I mean come on, how many route tons of apps together in AB without crashes? And yet a daw needs so much extra power and screen size?

    Lol

  • Yep I want more, but more of what I think fits well with the iPad. More touch centric input and playing surfaces, as I think they've only beginning to scratch the surface, so to speak.

I really want a return of Alchemy Player, as I don't have the full app. I had it on the PC years ago and I prefer the cut down version with its great playable interface on the iPad. Also they should release iPad versions of the effect apps made by the same company that made Alchemy.

GarageBand needs a big update to be more like the Mac version with more touch interface in mind. The Mac then has its own DAW in Logic.

Lol!!!! Same here and thats what im waitng for unless we are part of a beta ios music scene.
We need the best system possible in the actual ipads. And not wait an ipad pro like a hero of ios music scene because the customers and developers doesnt deserve that.

  • I think the near future needs to be stability in terms of MIDI sync and IAA. Without these working properly iOS gets very frustrating to use, and until we get to a time when the forums are not full of comments about MIDI Sync and IAA issues, we will not get the full potential adoption of iOS that we possibly could.

  • I don't think that Logic Pro X would work with iOS since it's build on a more open file management. A light version could be there maybe next year. Without OSX and acess to extern files etc. it would be very limited. I don't see any huge steps in terms of iOS music production because of an iPad Pro. I have the feeling iOS will grow to a full OS in some years since the iOS devices are the money maker for apple.

But apple seems to experiment a lot with watches, underpowered macbooks and overpowered but software limited iPads......

AU also seems not ready yet and....... i'm a bit scared about what apple do next ;)
I see apple more to make a more advanced Logic remote. And before we even see a Logic Mobile we still have to wait for a full Garage Band!

  • I don't see a need for Logic on the ipad when Auria Pro is just around the corner. I think it will give us almost everything we need in a DAW and it already has its own multiple instance plugins. I 'predict' more third party plugins will become available as IAP once Auria Pro comes out.

  • GarageBand to get Alchemy and Drummer in the very near future, longer term low sales, still for iPads, AU on a go sloooooooow basis, all the best stuff from dedicated developers, has been this way for quite a long time, can't see it changing yet.

  • iPad Pro will usher in a new user category, iPad Pro users. If this new iPad has 4GB RAM, current iPad evangelists will be left "disappointed" as big brother iPad Pro will become the darling of iOS music. Sad but true as this is how tech works. iPad Pro users will be able to do some heavy lifting which the current Airs cannot do.

I have a Mac Pro 2010 but the new Mac Pros are on another level. I'm still producing my music though :) The same will happen to iOS. Nothing stays the same. iPad Pro will be on another level. I'm saving already. Bring it on!

I agree with the blokes at Sonic Talk- iPad Pro will be used by graphic designers and architects but it won't probably take off with musicians because of better solutions outside of Apple at that price point- it could have worked if their were ports and a file system- the future looks bright for Surface Pro in the music making market-

  • Logic for iPad Pro probably not. However, GarageBand Pro might turn up?

  • I predict iOS on iPad will stay in a perpetual state of improving year on year but not reaching where lots want it to in terms of music production over the next 5 years.

Then as sales droop year on year and eventually stabilise Apple will slowly start to merge iOS with OSX over the following 5 years, still in a perpetual state of improving year on year but not reaching maturity and full functionality until year 10.

Thats my 10 year forecast.... :)

  • By which time there will be proper touch software to run on the surface pro 15

  • 10 years is way too far in the future for technology predictions. By then we will have haptic 3D interfaces with holographic projection. The iPad will be long gone.

  • I've touched maybe 1% of the creative power currently in my apps filled iPad. I see no rush.

When iOS will be a proper OS for an iPad Pro ;)

An apple hybrid would be so awesome. With dual boot you could also run windows 10...... but it will only happen in some mysterious parallel universe.

  • I predict Auria will expand to 96 tracks and run on the Apple Watch (Pro) ;)

Whether you're joking or not, I believe that you might be correct. But there will always be those holdouts like several people here who won't update to the current OS.

I think too. In 10 years we have a chip in our brain and create music the minority report style. I'm pretty sure that kind of this things IS the future. A tiny little powerful device which can transform everything and everywhere into your prefered size. It will run any software available. It will have 5D touch and more. This thing will use us as battery...... oh.... now i'm already again in the matrix ;)

Yeah.... maybe an AI will make us all obsolete. Ha ha, i watched the movie "Chappie" some days ago and i would like to get a new device (body) for me too ;)

  • The main draw of the iPad for me, is the unique touch screen instruments like TC-11, TC-Data, ThumbJam, GeoSynth, SoundPrism, Gestrument, etc etc etc. All of these could benefit greatly from increased screen size. The fact that there are so many outstanding synths (Thor, sunrizer, nave, synth master, Animoog etc), sample players/mangers, loopers, percussion/drum machines, effects, and very good production tools like Auria, MTS, Cubasis, etc, is the icing on the iPad/IOS cake. In spite of all the issues I have with the iOS (well articulated by the great contributors on this forum) I have been very productive in ways I never thought possible prior to the iPad...

I for one am looking forward to trying TC-Data on an iPad Pro. When touch based instruments like those found on the iPad appear on android or the surface I will welcome it:)

If drummer comes to the iOS garageband then garageband will be a more excellent songwriting tool than it already is. Then a project could be started on iOS in a more complete way and finished on a Mac. But it already does this pretty well as is.

I like the fact that iOS is simple, it lets me get things done. I do wish there was a file manager, even just what is on iTunes so you're not stuck having to connect to a computer to access mixdowns, etc. Yes, you can mix to Audioshare and Dropbox from auria, but the file is still in the auria file manager too. Also, being able to access stems directly from gadget to auria would be hugely helpful as this currently also requires iTunes.

I don't want a full os honestly, just a way to move user files around easily.

  • Why didn't Apple make iTunes File Sharing available to all music apps on iOS; so you could save files and read files between apps? What is the rational to have to connect it to iTunes on a Mac or PC? Right now, iCloud Drive's document picker lets files be shared for those apps that implement it. Just extend this to iTunes for file sharing right on the iPad.

  • Apple will never port logic. They would be diddled by their own pricing model. You could buy an iPad pro, then buy all your apps including plugins for the price of logic on the desktop. Because that's about what Auria with all the fab filter plugins cost. So, no economic sense for them to do that. They'd simply be eating their own market alive. They certainly are not going to charge desktop prices. People whine when apps cost ten bucks.

  • Yah I am loving my iPad like I loved my Amiga. Parting is such sweet... OH HEY, WHATS THAT OVER THERE?!?!
